Great to finally have a fully halal breakfast spot in Harlow! The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the interior is modern and pleasant with the added bonus of outdoor seating.
The menu is diverse, offering English, Desi, and Mediterranean breakfasts, as well as sandwiches, rolls and paninis, with a good range of hot and cold drinks.
The food tasted delicious and was served promptly. Hot drinks arrived first; Karak chai tasted great! We tried the English breakfast — the mushrooms, hashbrowns and fried slice (toast) were cooked perfectly. Some of the eggs were a bit more well-done than we prefer, so it’s worth mentioning if you like them runny.
A few minor issues. Low sofa seating; the cushions sink in quite a bit; there are however plenty of normal chairs available. Also noticed one staff member in the kitchen with untied and untidy long hair, which was a little off-putting since they were near the cooking area. Lastly, the place doesnt seem to be well ventilated resulting in slightly smokey atmosphere and strong smell of food/cooking due to the open plan.
Overall, a great place to eat and one I’ll definitely return to for the other...

I recently returned to Hazel’s Café on 19.05.25 and discovered it’s now under new ownership, operating as Blaze Kitchen. I’ll admit I was initially a bit skeptical — Hazel’s was a well-loved spot where I regularly enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and the occasional afternoon coffee with my better half.
However, I’m pleased to say that Blaze Kitchen has made a great first impression. The menu has evolved in a positive way, introducing healthier meat options and incorporating Indian/Bangladeshi-inspired breakfast dishes, which add a unique twist. I was especially happy to see new additions like grilled kebabs and traditional "Chai" (Tea Latte) — a lovely cultural touch.
That morning, I ordered the Big Blaze Breakfast, which arrived piping hot and generously portioned. It lived up to its name — well-cooked, not greasy, and full of flavour. A solid upgrade that still respects the charm of the old café while bringing something new to the table.
Well done, Blaze Kitchen! Keep up the great food and quality — I’m looking forward to coming back soon to try the Desi or spiced options, ideally with a refreshing...
Read moreLet me start by saying. The best cafe I have ever been to (and I hsve been to a lot!).
Usually a cafe is a standard decor, tables, chairs with the usual people running it that are just there. But this place is so far beyond anything I have experienced!
A beautifully decorated, well maintained, homely place that just makes you feel comfortable. I mean where else do you have a comfy long sofa that you can laze back in when you are stuffed from the great food. Staff that are happy that you are there, they are polite, welcoming and just all round wonderful people.
Honestly the food is some of the best around. I'd rather eat there then waste my money on any highstreet food chain! My wife and I have eaten here on a few occasions and has never disappointed. At around £10 to £15 per person for great food I don't think you can argue.
If you haven't experienced Hazel's Kitchen then you are definitely missing out. Go and enjoy and be blown away.
Also just to add, I never give anyone 5...
