⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | The Hare, Harlow: Great Food, Lovely Atmosphere… But Let’s Talk About That Bathroom

The Hare - a charming old pub just outside Harlow’s centre, where history meets hearty food (and where the bathrooms just about meet expectations).

Came here for dinner, and let’s start with the star of the show, the jacket potato. This was exactly how a jacket potato should be: thick, well-baked, crispy skin, and topped with a generous portion of tuna mayo (because nobody wants to go digging for the filling). The salad dressing? Let’s just say it won’t be winning any awards, but the food overall was spot on.

I also enjoyed a peppermint tea (in a BIG mug, thankfully) and a black coffee, both of which hit the spot. The restaurant area itself is beautifully decorated, with olde-world charm and lovely historic photos of Harlow’s past - a really thoughtful touch that gives it a warm, nostalgic feel.

Now, about the bathroom, functional, but definitely in need of a little TLC. Nothing disastrous, but let’s just say the pub’s historic charm shouldn’t extend to the facilities.

Would I come back? Absolutely, for the food, the atmosphere, and the crispy jacket potatoes done right. Just maybe with slightly lowered bathroom...

As usual came to the hare Harlow from hoddesdon, the food is always Amazing we keep coming back. The music is perfect as its not too loud and it varies to suit everyone( so don’t change that :)) we always try to get the high table by the bar which is our favourite table. The staff are very nice but there are two id like to highlight so they are recognised for their customer service AMY goes the extra mile always smiling very helpful talks to customers in a very polite way such a lovely happy lady 😊 and Jamey very pleasant and polite. I’m glad we found this little gem in Harlow we really like coming here 😊 and these two lovely ladies make it a lovely dining experience! Only one thing disappoints me is most of the time we want 4 pina colada's but most of the time you have run out if one of the ingredients usualy cream so now I’ll phone before we come And only come when ingredients are all there as it’s our favourite coctail. We’re regulars now so would be greatful if you could keep all ingredients in stock when it’s running low....

At first I was quite unsure about the food on the menu, but I don’t regret ordering it! Their chicken is very good, although it is too salty for my liking. Their halloumi fries were very nice but got quite oily and sickening. Their mozzarella bites were immaculate, I have nothing bad to say about that. The cheesy garlic ciabatta is perfect, nothing bad to say about that. The chips are divine! Crunchy, salty, and just amazing in general. Their chicken burger was massive, but still amazing. It was herby, salty, juicy and crispy! For their service, the service there was very nice! When ordering, very alter I asked for was made and they give you time if you are not sure what to order yet. The food cooking duration is not long at all, and overall it was amazing. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, but was also quite stifling. Overall, I would definitely go there again and recommend...

The decor is amazing and has changed so much (for good) over the years. Smaller 2:1 choice. We both ordered pie (to my disappointment it was served as a slice and not indvidual pies) the dish tasted amazing and it went down fast. I was still hungry. However, it was 2:1 working out to be around £5.50 for the dish. I should have ordered a side too 😁 Friendly staff, book a table as it can be busy and when it is busy the wait time on food can be long (we waited around 45mins and the chef brought it out himself) There is plenty of car parking. Will return.

Met my friend there for Sunday lunch. We both had the ultimate roast which was a large portion. Food was tasty and the ladies who served us were lovely. Have been before for drinks also and has a great time, nice atmosphere in the pub and nicely decorated and decent prices. Would recommend and I will be going back as it's not far from my house.
