Restaurant and Allergy Review
Restaurant: I have always had a wonderful meal when at Mui & Koko. All the food is delightful and always brings me back for more. The staff are kind and friendly and the atmosphere is always a joyful. I have been coming here for years and have always had a fantastic time. This restaurant is the jewel of Harlow.
Allergies If you have allergies this might not be the restaurant for you. As someone who has a serious peanut allergy I find it extremely hard to find a Chinese restaurant that can accommodate me and Mui & Koko staff wouldn’t recommend eating here if you have a serious allergy. It was brought to my attention more prominent tonight that the satay is fried in the same oil as the other fried options which from a cross contamination point is very upsetting.
Every time I eat here I always order the two same dishes (salt and pepper chicken and Yum Yum chicken) and I do so ignoring their warnings taking my life into my own hands and that’s because I have never had a reaction with these dishes because they don’t contain peanuts. But I take this risk because it’s near impossible for someone like me with a peanut allergy to enjoy an authentic Chinese meal as satay as well as other dishes are always a deter to me. And it is deeply upsetting I am missing out eating with friends and family.
I would like to request from myself and on behalf of others with peanut allergies to not use the same oil and have the satay (peanut options) cooked in another area or handled in another way which enables someone like myself to enjoy a lovely meal without worry.
I always appreciate the amount of concern and worry from the staff have for my wellbeing. Please take this change into consideration as it soul crushing to not being able to eat with my own family. I doubt I will return until there...
Read moreWow WOW WOW! I am usually one to have my Chinese delivered to my door but you know as you do thought I would try something new and actually eat in at a Chinese restaurant and I truly can't believe this is what I have been missing. I don't understand why this restaurant doesn't have five star ratings through and through. Was sat down to my table with my girlfriend the menu was quite confusing to the usually selections but was guided through it by a friendly member of staff and finally placed our order and was served to a large and I mean LARGE portion of food was definitely a struggle to wolf it down especially with having to eat my girlfriends leftovers because the food was well and truly that good so it was only right that I soldiered through it. There is no way you can go into this place and walk out unsatisfied, very very tasty food and great value for money. If I could recommend anything it would be the yum yum beef which is basically chilli shredded beef with a twist but a very pleasant one at that. Look forward to visiting this...
Read moreThe food here is amazing, although sometimes i do struggle with saying the names of some of the dishes. But i can honestly say i have never once been to King Du noodle bar and moaned about the food i have been given. My favorite being HongKong chicken with egg fried rice. The decor is really nice in there it is really authentic and has all different chinese lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The service is 3/3 but, i would say you do have to be quick picking your food, as as soon as you have sat down a minute later you have someone asking if you are ready to take your order. The drink is probably the only thing i would mark down on as for a vodka and coke it cost 4.50 which i find rather expensive, and they dont do many beers in there.... but there is always weather spoons right next door. All together thouugh i think there portion sizes are amazing and the food and the price you pay is well worth a...
