Park Review: Harlow Town Park

Harlow Town Park is a beautiful and expansive green space in the heart of Harlow, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Covering over 160 acres, this park is one of the largest urban parks in the UK and provides a wide range of activities and attractions for visitors of all ages.

The park is beautifully maintained, with manicured lawns, colorful flower beds, and well-marked pathways that make it easy to explore. The Walled Garden is a standout feature, showcasing a lovely array of seasonal plants and flowers that are meticulously cared for. For those interested in nature, the Sensory Garden provides a unique experience, engaging all senses with its fragrant herbs and textured plants.

One of the highlights of Harlow Town Park is its animal corner, where families can meet and interact with a variety of friendly animals, including goats, pigs, rabbits, and chickens. It’s a fantastic spot for children to learn about animals and enjoy some hands-on experience in a safe, supervised environment.

For active visitors, the park has a number of sports facilities, including a skate park, multiple playgrounds, and open spaces perfect for picnics or a casual game of football. The Adventure Playground is especially popular with kids, featuring a range of equipment that encourages imaginative play and physical activity. There’s also a café near the main entrance that serves a range of refreshments, including locally sourced ice cream and freshly made sandwiches, providing a nice spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

The park's size and variety mean there is always something new to discover, whether it's a peaceful spot by the lake, a hidden sculpture, or one of the many events and festivals that take place throughout the year. It’s also very accessible, with plenty of parking and well-maintained paths suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.

However, during peak times, particularly on sunny weekends, the park can get quite crowded, and finding a quiet spot can be a challenge. Additionally, a few more signs and maps around the park could help new visitors navigate its vast area more easily.

Overall, Harlow Town Park is a fantastic community space that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful stroll, a fun day out with the family, or a place to exercise and enjoy nature, this park has it all. A must-visit for locals and...

One of the best parks including London! Never overcrowded, children running around, parents enjoying the sun. Super pleasant and beautiful, big park! Harlow Town Park’s 164 acres of lush greenery are a total gem, perfect for a relaxing day out. The Water Garden, with its cascading ponds and charming Pisces sculpture, is a highlight—great for snapping photos or just soaking in the tranquility. Pets’ Corner is a hit with kids, offering free entry to see adorable llamas, reindeer, and fluffy rabbits. The adventure playground and inclusive play area keep the little ones entertained for hours, while the skate park and outdoor gym cater to older kids and adults. Spurriers House Café is a lovely spot for a coffee or ice cream, and the nearby Greyhound pub adds a cozy vibe for a quick pint. The park’s five unique gardens, like the sensory garden with its fragrant shrubs, are a treat for nature lovers. With well-maintained paths, ample benches, and clean toilets, it’s super accessible and welcoming. Free parking on weekends is a bonus, and the short walk from Harlow Town station makes it easy to reach. Whether you’re picnicking, strolling through Peace Wood, or catching a summer bandstand event, there’s something for everyone. The Green Flag Award is well-deserved—this park is a joyful escape for families, dog walkers, and anyone craving a slice of...

A surprisingly big park, it has some lovely walks and plenty to offer the whole family. Easy walks for children and the elderly also some more challenging paths too... Pets Corner is well worth a visit it is free entry and has a good selection of farmyard animals and some more unusual creatures too! There is a decent cafe that serves hot and cold food and they have a good ice cream stand serving high quality ice cream in various flavours at not entirely unreasonable prices.... There are Tables inside and outside where you can sit and enjoy the scenery while you drink your coffee. Good clean public toilets and handwashing stations here and there. The Splash Pool is one of our favourite places to spend a hot summers day, you can take a picnic and a blanket and sit in nice surroundings while the kids jump about in the shallow pool, there is a lifeguard on duty most of the day when the pool is open, (1st June to 1st Sept I think), parking is available not for free unfortunately but all the free amenities make it well worth the £2 - £4 parking ticket. All of the usual stuff too, ice cream vans, adventure parks, exercise equipment and lots of ponds and streams too. Kids will love it!!!! My daughter and I have been going there for at least 10 years and we still have a great time.. Highly...

A really lovely open spaced park to spend the day. We were lucky enough to come here on a day that the Harlow school of Rock were holding a party in the park and so glad we came. The park has plenty to do and see, the sun was hot and children were enjoying paddling in the stream which runs through the landscape. The pet corner and fields of farm animals to look at make the day out even more exciting, with ponies, lamas, alpacas, pigs, sheep, goats, owls and birds. There is a large reptile house with lots of different species which are kept in exceptionally accurate conditions. Really tidy well looked after animals. The park has a large play area for children at the far end also, so there really isn't room for anyone to get lots for anything to do here. The best thing is its absolutely free! I would highly recommend a day out here.

You forget you’re in the middle of a town here. Cheap and can easily spend a day here with the kids. In the summer the splash pool is open, there are numerous parks for the children to play on whilst walking round, a pleasant cafe, and of course the petting zoo. All free again, and the children are able to look, feed and pet the animals. There is also a pub nearby that serves well priced good food and drink. The park always seems well kept, clean and tidy. Minimal litter and haven’t really come across any sort of antisocial behaviour. Great location, can either walk to the town centre or over to the retail park!
