I found the Brothers by happy accident about 18 months ago on a first visit to the bonkers SeeSpray gallery on the other side of the road. Fair to say I’ve been going pretty regularly ever since.
Drawn by the bright orange exterior and the”Brewing” in the title, I was welcomed by the warm and relaxed, work in progress, bar with the scent of delicious pizza in the air. It was then, seeing the brewing vessels in the corner and impressive beer list, that my jaw hit the floor.
The Brothers themselves are always welcoming, friendly, enthusiastic and incredibly hard working, and love it! Their skill at brewing shines through with so many great beers on all the time. The Gallagher’s, Cohen’s, Wright’s and the Marley stout being absolute stand outs (my personal all time favourite so far being the Escobar). Joining their own brews are always a selection of beers from local and further afield breweries.
If the beers weren’t impressive enough, there’s the double whammy of the fabulous pizzas, freshly made behind the bar in the huge clay pizza oven, they’re easily the best around and so popular that I’m yet to try a daily special as they seem to sell out as quickly as they’re chalked up on the board.
The Brothers draw in an eclectic crowd of all ages and whenever I’ve visited there’s always been a good vibe.
The one thing the Brothers are missing now, is space. Over the past year I’ve seen the place get busier and more popular, and as this is a bar to take your time and enjoy a few drinks with in, getting a seat or table can now often be a Herculean task. The old Imperial is creaking and groaning at the seams!
The effort these guys put in and the outstanding quality of their labours is a thing of wonder, these guys are surely going places and I’m looking forward to their next move. If there’s crowdfunding...
Read moreWe were a party of four that went to this pub to try the pizzas and the brewed-on-the-premises beer. The pub, it must be said has a great atmosphere, and it is not just a youngsters pub but, is in effect, a very good local. It was a clean and well ventilated premises, and has a 'distressed' style of decor which works and suits it very well. The seats are former keg barrels, and some of the tables are former butcher's blocks. . The toilet facitilities are a hike downstairs and are not for the infirm or lame! The pub offers a range of its own beers, including a dark beer, lagers and a cider to suit all tastes, however, I did find them quite expensive. The pizzas, which are delivered to your table in their own boxes and eaten without cutlery, were very good and reasonably priced too at an average of £11. We drank red wine while eating and it was good, and reasonably priced. Overall, this is a good place to go for a non-fussy evening meal out, or for a drink with pals with pizzas on hand for anyone who gets the munchies after a...
Read moreA large pub that serves its own brews ranging from 3.8% Wrights pale which is my favourite to Gallagher Ipa 6%. As the strength goes up the price does also starting at £5.00 upto £6,50. They also have guest ales Three legs , Pig & Porter and Cross Borders & Yeastie Boys. The guest ales start at £4.00 going upto £5.50. As well as a great range of Beers , ales and Ciders. Their Pizzas are excellent and there are plenty to choose from priced from £8.00 to £12.00, I recommend the Field trotter. The pizza's alone are worth a visit. There is seating inside and outside and the staff are friendly as are the locals. The pizza oven and brewery are all visible. I went on a beer trip with my local Micro pub, named The Waterworks. A coincidence that Brewing Brothers Imperial is located opposite Waterworks Road . To Sum it up A great pub , great ales and pizza's and locals. Look forward to...
