Hastings Beach is a gem on the English coast that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, recreational activities, and cultural attractions, making it an ideal destination for visitors of all ages. My recent trip to Hastings Beach was an unforgettable experience that left me eager to return.
The beach itself is a stunning stretch of pebble shoreline that provides a picturesque setting for relaxation and enjoyment. The sound of the waves gently lapping against the shore creates a soothing ambiance, perfect for unwinding and soaking up the sun. For those who prefer a bit more activity, the beach offers ample opportunities for swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking in the clear, refreshing waters.
A walk along the historic Hastings Pier is a must. The pier has been beautifully restored and now features a variety of attractions, including amusement rides, games, and an array of food stalls offering delicious local fare. It's a great spot to enjoy stunning views of the coastline and the bustling activity below.
Hastings Beach is also known for its vibrant cultural scene. The nearby Old Town is a treasure trove of history and charm, with narrow, winding streets lined with unique shops, galleries, and cafes. The local seafood restaurants are not to be missed, offering some of the freshest catches of the day.
For history enthusiasts, the iconic Hastings Castle provides a fascinating glimpse into the past, with its rich history dating back to the Norman Conquest. The Smugglers Adventure and Shipwreck Museum are also excellent for family-friendly educational experiences.
Nature lovers will appreciate the scenic walks along the Hastings Country Park, offering breathtaking views of the cliffs and the English Channel. Birdwatching, hiking, and simply enjoying the natural flora and fauna are popular activities here.
Overall, Hastings Beach is a fantastic destination that offers something for everyone. Whether you're looking to relax, explore, or indulge in local culture and cuisine, Hastings Beach delivers an exceptional experience. I can't wait to return and explore even more of what this delightful seaside town...
Read moreIt's a nice beach but a bit small so gets very busy in the summer making it hard to find somewhere to relax. This is a gravel beach with beautiful views and loads of wildlife. Plenty of arcades and chip shops plus a mini rail way. Gravel can be bit hard to walk on in some places as you slide down and obviously you might want to bring chairs if you plan sitting for a while. Overall a nice beach thats reasonable clean apart from alot of dead fish and the odd bit of plastic.
Sadly the anglers that fish down at Hastings don't have alot of respect for sharks being one of the worst beach's for seeing dead fish on with a couple piles of lesser spotted cat shark that had been killed and finding one shark still alive tangled in fishing line with hook in its mouth left to die this is not only evil but could be dangerous if a kid was to come along and touch it not realise the sharks still alive. Hopefully local authorities will continue to work with anglers to educate and protect the shark population and hopefully see anglers gain respect for the sport...
Read moreHastings Beach mainly consists of stones, so not great for sand castle builders! However, if Hastings had the best quality sandy beach I still wouldn't rate it highly as the seaside is generally neglected by its local council and some of those living there.
Obviously, not all of Hastings seaside is neglected, some buildings are ok, it has good modern public toilets, the lifts up the cliffs are nice (but expensive), the polished statues are attractive, and the Prior Meadows Shopping Centre is nice. But these few nice areas do not steer your eyes away from the rest of the mess that TOTALLY ruin the seaside. The photos give some idea of what I am talking about. Neglected areas like these will eventually stop tourists returning to Hastings (me for one!) as there are MUCH nicer seaside resorts in the UK. The roads in and around Hastings are full of potholes and cracks too. If the local council and people living there tidied up things a bit (some buildings just need painting!) then Hastings would be a much more attractive town....
