Dandelion Deli — Restaurant in Hastings

At first we were impressed by the low prices compared to other places on King's Road. The ambience is nice and the cakes look tasty! We ordered a cheese & onion toastie and a hummus, Halloumi and carrot wrap to take-away. We were told the wait would be 10 minutes as there were a couple of orders before ours. 30 minutes later and our food had still not materialised! I understand that it was busy, but the two members of staff behind the counter didn't seem to have a rush bone in their bodies. The girl making the sandwiches even stopped to have a chat with some customers while everybody was waiting for their food. My biggest gripe however, was when I took a bite into my wrap and realised that they'd put grilled vegetables instead of carrot (I'd overheard earlier that they 'ran out of carrot' - but they didn't consult me about it). I am allergic to aubergine, which is in the grilled vegetables. Granted I didn't disclose that when I gave the order, but only because I'd intentionally chosen a wrap that didn't contain grilled vegetables. I don't know whether it was an honest mistake, or whether they substituted the carrots without consulting me. If I hadn't been in my car driving away I would have gone back and found out. In the end the whole thing went in the bin. All in all I think this business needs to take a look at its food practices. THEY OVER CHARGE. SO CHECK YOU BANK STATMENT AS I DID. THEY CAN BE SUPPOSEDLY GENEROUS. BUT OVER CHARGE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Rude and insulting, AVOID. Coffee is undeniably good, let me say that first but they do need to offer a table service for people using their dine in option. Lots of people cramped into a small shop waiting to be served isn't the best way to deal with the current situation. There was a fairly long wait before being served so a little bit of acknowledgement from the staff that you were waiting and they would be with you shortly, would have been nice. When our coffees and snacks did arrive the guy put them down on the wrong table before I had to usher him over to ours. Again, this is down to a poor service system that could be made better with a few simple adjustments. Table numbers would probably be...
