I went here during the week to buy some bagels to go and had previously bought plain bagels on a saturday. At the time they said they were was a restriction on how many you can buy so i bought 6. i suggested they should put a sign up but the policy is fair enough as there is more profit in filled rolls. I asked how many i could buy on a saturday and was told 4. I duly came back on saturday but the harrassed looking person behind the counter just rudely said i cant buy any without a filling. I pointed out i had been told i could but she was completely disinterested and rude. Reiterating i had to buy a filled one. i asked what was the simplest one and she said buttered so i asked for 4 buttered but hold the butter. My point here is that the service was rude and disinterested ... lets face it i wasnt buying enough to resell so i was a genuine customer with a genuine reason for asking what i had been told was acceptable as i had specifically asked the week before. To just dismiss me was not acceptable. If you want to charge more on a saturday fair enough but be honest about it and put a sign up and make sure all the staff...
Read moreJust like the previous reviewer, I came back 2 days running as the bagels were the most delicious I have eaten - and I have been a bagel devotee for many years.
Starting with the bagels: home baked, light but with bagel density at the same time. A range of savoury and sweet. I opted for seeded 'Everything' and everything it was.
Day one, I had the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. High quality fish and no average cream cheese. It was topped with what I think are fried capers, so it hit a salty flavour filled bite. Excellent.
Day two, I went for Italian sausage with fried onions (crispy, light, nothing greasy here) on an Everything bagel. Excellent.
I spent a happy couple of mornings here, working, eating bagels and drinking Sleeper's very good coffee. The staff are charming and the atmosphere is the best of St. Len's.
Every single customer who I saw come and go exclaimed about how tasty the food is - do you need more encouragement to try a Sleeper bagel experience?
I leave today but will be back for more next time I am...
Read moreMy daughter and I arrived around 2:30 PM today, Saturday, 5th July hoping to enjoy some bagels. As we were about to sit down, a staff member informed everyone in a rather abrupt manner that you were sold out and closing and that everyone should leave. While I understand that these things happen, the way the message was delivered made us feel unwelcome. Well, in this case we had to leave anyway!
I do want to emphasise that I have visited Sleeper Store on several occasions and have always found the staff to be generally polite and friendly. The bagels and fillings are consistently delicious and made with high-quality ingredients, so I have no complaints regarding the food.
However, this is not the first time I've encountered this particular staff member, and I have previously noticed a cold and haughty attitude. I'm unsure if she is the owner, but her demeanour certainly gives...
