I called in here with my grandsons recently. It was at their recommendation, they are 8 and 10 yrs old. 😃

It was like going back in time to a period decades ago. The decoration was as I would have expected in my youth, bright, sharp, practical, and spotlessly clean.

There is plenty of room to sit comfortably at the tables, not cramped like many places. They even give you chairs that can move and adjust for your comfort, not fixed and rigidly tied to the table. Just like the old days.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly with a good rapport from the owners. You just can't beat happy smiling faces from behind the counter to make you feel wanted and valued as a customer.

Would I recommend, most definitely, I'm going back to try their fish, which looked delicious. 😋

Came here on a quiet Monday at around 1230 and ordered a small cod and mushy peas.

In terms of the style of the fish and chips I was very much in agreement. Very substantive, heavily crispy batter with cakey notes. I can't say the fish was the softest or most delectable but was still good and the quality of the batter puts this up there with the best I've sampled.

I deduct a star as it did take quite a long time to receive my food despite being the only customer waiting. Felt like almost 15 minutes.

Also I feel the vinegar they offer was a bit on the cheap side and was definitely more water heavy than more classic malt vinegar brands so I had to really drench...

Freshly cooked fish and chips and great service too. I ate at one of the tables in the shop (they have tables inside and just outside on the street). The team behind the counter were great, very welcoming and happy to help. I had fish, chips, mushy peas and a tin of pop. Batter was crispy, chips were fresh from the fryer and there were plenty of peas. Table service was a nice touch, china plate, knife and fork and plenty of S&V available. It was a Monday evening so the shop wasn't mobbed but there was a steady flow of customers. I noticed that all customers were informed how long their food would be.
