The staff were brilliant, working very hard, the burgers were good, but that’s where It ends as good reviews go.

The gammon roast was extremely salty, the potatoes were microwaved from frozen and not nice.

The mixed grill, again extremely salty gammon, chicken was like leather hard to cut and even harder to chew, though the steak was ok.

The lasagnes were the worst, extremely runny gravy around the lump in the middle, seriously lacking in meat and the taste was horrible and it was cold, one aunt used a spoon to eat her lasagne as it was so watery. The garlic bread had no taste and wasn’t proper garlic bread, pitta bread does not make good garlic bread. The salad was smothered in a sweet dressing making the salad soggy and not edible, (dressings should be optional) due to being soggy and over sweet. Small bowl of chips was ordered but took so long to come out and we had to keep asking where our chips were, that we had finished the meals we wanted the chips with by the time they arrived.

The chips were like eating cardboard, they didn’t have any potato inside and tasted stale. We only made ourselves eat the meals because we paid for them, but they certainly was not enjoyed.

The seats had a big hole in, faux leather cover badly ripped, plus the seats were too low to comfortably eat our meals at the two different level tables.

There was 12 of us, but we were seated 6 one side, large gap, 6 the other side so we couldn’t chat as a group, we may as well come out as 2 separate families so our elderly aunts couldn’t chat with 6 members of the family, no thought went into the seating, plus we had a speaker over one groups table which was quite loud which stopped communication.

The whole pub looks tired and in need of refurbishment.

Definitely will not go back, it spoilt our time all out together and with our elderly aunts. We want to enjoy time with them and...

Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience

I recently visited The Woodpecker Pub with my partner's family, including young children, hoping for a pleasant evening out. Unfortunately, what we experienced was anything but.

To my utter shock and embarrassment, we were abruptly ejected from the premises, not for any misbehavior or disturbance on our part, but simply because I happen to be the brother of the landlord's ex-boyfriend. Despite the fact that I have no contact with my brother, the landlord made it clear that his personal grudge against my brother was enough reason to kick us out.

When I tried to understand the reason for this treatment, the landlord bluntly told me that it was his pub, and he could do what he likes. This level of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable, especially in a place that advertises itself as a family-friendly establishment.

Being treated so unfairly, especially in front of my partner's family and young children, was humiliating and ruined what should have been a lovely evening. I would strongly advise anyone considering a visit to The Woodpecker Pub to think twice, as you never know when you might be singled out and subjected to such disgraceful behavior.

This was an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. Avoid this place...

The food at The Woodpecker is nothing short of spectacular. The menu is thoughtfully crafted, featuring a range of pub classics and contemporary dishes that are sure to satisfy. The fish and chips are a standout, with crispy, golden batter and tender, flaky fish. For something a bit heartier, the steak and ale pie is a comforting delight, with rich, savory flavors wrapped in a perfectly baked crust. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available, showcasing the kitchen’s versatility and commitment to inclusivity.

One of the most remarkable aspects of The Woodpecker is the exceptional service. The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, always ready to go the extra mile to ensure your experience is top-notch. Their knowledge of the menu and drink offerings is impressive, and their enthusiasm is contagious, making every visit feel special.

In summary, The Woodpecker Pub is a gem that shines brightly in the local pub scene. It’s a place where great food, fantastic drinks, and outstanding service come together to create an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re a local regular or a visitor looking for a memorable night out, The Woodpecker is the place to be. Don’t miss the chance to experience this wonderful pub – it’s...

A lovely family friendly pub/restaurant, very clean and aesthetically pleasing. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Disabled friendly . The prices suit everyone's budget and excellent sized portions which are all fresh and made in house. Once eaten here you will return as the standards are so much higher than the price suggests.. Quiz nights, steak nights , plenty of parking an all round delightful experience. The general manager was extremely friendly, helpful and a lovely guy to boot. All staff genuinely seem happy and are willing to go that extra mile for your dining experience. Really can't find any negatives in this establishment a must visit for all from single dining to family lunch/evening meal.. Extremely impressed and thoroughly looking forward to our next visit..

(Delivered Food) Food Ordered; 2 Steak pie and mash, Mac and cheese, panko battered Prawns. The the pie dishes were stacked on top of each other with no barrier e.g lid, foil etc between the two. This meant the bottom pie was squished and the top had stuff all over the bottom. (I think this might have something that didn't help the temp) Veg was stone cold, mash was hot and cold pie was okay temp. It was very all over the place. I paid £6.49 for 5 Prawns that is 1.29 per prawn, on top of that they were dry and 2 were cold. I do understand that because it was delivered the Food won't be off the pass temp but it wasn't like that, it was all over the place with some items just cold. I recommend having Lids for the bigger containers!

Not good enough. I waited 50 minutes for three simple meals on December 17th. After waiting for 30 minutes, I was informed that one of the meals was unavailable and had to choose an alternative. The restaurant had customers but was not nearly full, and I wouldn't say it was busy. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing. The presentation was poor; the chips were overcooked on the outside and undercooked in the middle. The avocado and chicken wrap was messy, and the chicken and bacon were so chewy that we had to leave them. Overall, it was a very disappointing lunch and experience, certainly not worth the £35 we paid for it. What a shame.
