I'm sorry to have to write this as the staff were lovely, but the food not that good. We ordered 3 roast beef and 1 fish and chips, the beef was a little dry around the edges, and only one of us had a home made Yorkshire pudding, the other 2 were flat frozen ones. The fish and chips was a joke, the fish was flat and not much bigger than a large fish finger. We were hungry and ate the food. The manager came and spoke to us and was very apologetic and was surprised we were not happy. He said the fish was fresh, but no way was it fresh, it was to firm and flat, fresh fish would be thicker and much more flakier. He did not charge us for the fish, which was good of him. He said they go for flavour more than quantity. But the potatoes were well cooked and we showed the waitress the badly black one and the edge of the beef which was dry and curled up. The place as a building was lovely and well spaced out, but not worth the money on the food. Once again sorry but sometimes flavour and quantity need to be addressed. My husband has just retired from the food standards agency and he's been around food for 40 years service, so knows...
Read moreI recently visited a fantastic pub that truly stood out for its wonderful atmosphere and exceptional service. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm, friendly staff who made me feel right at home. The pub itself had a cozy yet vibrant ambiance, with a great mix of rustic charm and modern touches. The menu was diverse, offering both hearty comfort food and lighter bites, all of which were cooked to perfection.
What really set this place apart, though, was the staff. They went above and beyond to make sure every customer was taken care of. Whether it was offering recommendations from the drink menu or checking in to make sure we were comfortable, their attentiveness made all the difference. It’s rare to find such a welcoming, personable team, and it made the experience all the more enjoyable.
Overall, I highly recommend this place – it’s a gem, with not only a great atmosphere and delicious food but also some of the friendliest, most helpful staff around! Thanks Matt...
Read moreMy wife and I had our first visit to Number 73 on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate her birthday. I would like to give 3.5 stars, but because of Google's rating system, that, unfortunately is not possible. The bar itself is very lovely with live music - the atmosphere is very welcoming. Staff is very kind, and they showed us our table immediately. After we were seated, we had to wait 14 minutes for someone to take our order, including drinks. I would've expected to drink something whilst checking the menu. My wife tried ordering a cocktail, but her first (and second) choice wasn't available. We also tried ordering pork belly from the Sunday menu, but they couldn't serve it anymore, giving us limited options. The starters were great, very delicious, but the mains were quite salty (especially after the first few bites). This applies to the fish gratin and the lamb, too. Overall, it wasn't the greatest experience, and there is room for...
