China House — Restaurant in High Peak

Was debating whether to post a public review due to the nature i experienced on making one complaint a few years ago - but if being honest in my opinion and experiences helps others - i will post exactly that. Absolutely awful place - used to have standards and character about the food, care and passion in the flavours of their food - not anymore. Food has NEVER been one bit consistent in the last few times I've ordered (and thats not even that regular because its my last resort) Food has no set recipe - and changes every single time - hot and sour soup especially - the ingredients get changed up and mixed about, sometimes containing tofu, sometimes not, sometimes like water, sometimes thicker than slime - its never the same. Chips are also disgusting! Comparable to greasy cold cardboard when they arrive and the salt and pepper chips have rationed flavourings and veg - literally a few skinny sliced onions on top and can barely taste them! The rice is actually pretty decent most the time but can also at times like tonight - be dry, bulky and cold. Ive ordered enough times to know its not just a bad night - but more the fact they have lost their passion and care for the food and just rush it for the money. I wont ever be back here again - not even as a last resort! Even my kids couldn’t eat their tea and complained it was “disgusting” - they are 5 and 6.

Not acceptable! Oh and we was overcharged for our order and also had to return because items...

For over 20 years The China House in Fairfield Buxton has proved they produce excellent food and service...Living in Fairfield for nearly 40 years and with present and past Chinese still here and gone, China House is really the best...Ok I have had issues when ordering for a home delivery to not include pork in a Special Fried Rice which was delivered with more pork than anything else on one occasion the problem was resolved and I was given a full refund and full apology...The staff are friendly and happy to help and just recently have folk who recently deliver an order with a honest and genuine way ...just a year or so ago a regular delivery driver with a constant grumpy face delivered our order but have not seen him in ages but saying that he did sort of appreciate a tip by saying Ta...I really can't fault the China House...Great food, Great Service and a happy...

My girlfriend is vegetarian and found chicken in the vegetable spring roles. When we explained we agreed we were happy to pay for all the food apart from her spring roles they only refunded us for 1 and the delivery driver made out she was a lier and argued with us at our own front door and asked for the food back but we saved some and it is now going to trading standards and environmental health in the morning. If they had just been polite and apologised. We would of been happy to leave it...
