Friendship Inn — Restaurant in High Peak

Another distinctive regulars' haunt gone, its old-school sofas and sporting memorabilia (which gave it a relaxed club-house air) seemingly swept aside to gentrify it into Hoxton-up-North style, presumably to attract the Indy and Graun readers who make the town their bolthole. Called in on FA Cup Final day after watching our Westhoughton Cricket Team win at Glossop CC. Pub full of jubilant City fans and sulking United fans but the landlady allowed us to put our Cricket flag up to derision and humour. What followed was a couple of hours of a quality British pub. This is a lovely-looking pub with what is possibly the best hanging basket and window box display in the country!

Like many pubs, it has had a makeover that has seen the removal of internal walls to open things up - unfortunately, this has removed the smaller rooms that added character and cosiness, and this means that it lacks the atmosphere that it once had.

I wouldn't make it my local, but it's not a bad place...
