Visited this pub today, arrived at 6pm (the time we booked a table for) they had no record of this booking, but could seat us no problem. Opened a tab, ordered drinks and food (vast menue!) No complaints there.... The starter came out (sharing combo) and the childs fish finger meal, asked a member of staff twice for child cutlery, she said she'd get some, never returned with any. Fingers before forks for the little one! We waited for our mains, at this point it was nearly 8pm and when we chased up the food, there were items missing, and wasnt very warm. One of the meals came five minutes after the others and was piping hot, so i imagine the chefs forgot to cook the one meal! I had onion rings missing from my burger, not a massive issue, but we were paying for them so you want them. I told the waitress, she apologised and came out with a bowl of onion rings, which were stone cold. We spoke to the manager who took them back and got a fresh hot bowl. The food was good quality and very tasty, but the service was lacking and although we were given a percentage off the final bill, i dont think we'll be rushing back in a hurry, which is a shame as the place looks great, very family friendly with things to do for the kids etc.

The Handsome Cab is a Hungry Horse chain pub/restaurant in Hinckley. It’s very good at what it does as long as you know what to expect from it. The food has gone up in price so it’s no longer the bargain it used to be but you can currently get 20% off with a code from the Blue Light card app. It’s not fine dining and it doesn’t advertise itself as such, the food comes out incredibly quickly so it’s more than likely microwaved, however, it’s usually pretty tasty so no complaints there. They have a large classic pub menu with gluten free options available and a good selection of beer wine and cocktails at reasonable prices. The staff that I’ve spoken to have also been very friendly and helpful and it’s always an efficient process to put in an order. Car park is free for patrons and there are plenty of spaces, you must remember to put you registration in on the iPad at the bar or you will get a parking ticket. Overall good at what it does, as long as you don’t expect it to be fine dining, good for a reasonably priced family meal.

Visited here today. Food was really nice. However service was absolutely atrocious. Had ordered desserts with the mains and paid up front including a tip. Had our mains fairly quickly but after 20mins of us finishing our mains no one had collected the dirty plates. Also one minor thing I was asked if I would like a nan bread with my chicken tikka part of the 2 for 10 menu. On the bill I had been charged an extra £1.60 just for the nan bread. I wasn't informed there was an extra charge just for nan bread, which in my opinion should be part of a chicken tikka dish.My wife had to ask at the bar for our desserts to be brought out then that member of staff went home. We had to stop another member of staff 5 mins later. Finally got the desserts. You are allowed an hour and a half time slot of which 25mins we spent waiting for our pudding. If we had had a starter probably would have run out of time. The restaurant was extremely quiet but even so the service was still very poor. We won't be coming back here.

Servers: Check back done within 2 minutes of receiving our mains. We had literally not even started eating our food and were waiting for sauces to be delivered before we started.

Denise (older woman who spoke terribly, was rude and abrupt) was an abysmal server. Her customer service level is 0! Remember "Computer says no"? Well that is the service I got from her. Absolutely awful! She was rude when stating "no onion rings", offered NO alternatives nor did she offer an apology.

Sydney (Young blond girl) was rude and sighed when asked if there was an alternative to onion rings, went into the back and came out LITERALLY 7 MINUTES LATER with an expression of 'I hate you for making me ask the chefs' and then preceded to be rude and arsey with me when telling me that she could only offer chips as an alternative (This was not a problem but the way she delivered it and her disgusting attitude was what made me write this review).

Reiss Seemed to be the only one with something about him (customer service skills) to rectify any problems or even 'service with a smile' though he was clearly as busy as the other team members.

The Food: Mixed Grill... The egg was NOT COOKED (it was literally transparent) and the sausages were under cooked and cold. I made an attempt to eat it so not to make a scene but because you pay for the food first, I felt a complaint and fresh food was required. Clearly I was not going to approach the two rude women who have no customer service skills at all and were still walking round as if the world hated them so I approached a young man called Reece?. He then agreed that my food was sub par and took it back to get a fresh plate made up. On arrival of the second plate, THE CHICKEN WAS UNDER COOKED and raw (in places). What the heck is this place playing at? On the plus side, the egg was actually cooked and the sausages, though under cooked, were warm. Needless to say, I left the chicken and sausages so to avoid salmonella poisoning and was just able to eat the gammon, that was actually okay, chips and peas. Frankly a waste of £7 something, waste of time for all involved.

Previous food: Steak We had asked for steaks to be medium - medium rare. they came rare in places and and then medium and then well done. It would appear that the kitchen staff need to learn to cook. Service was the same, Sydney was awful and rude and the check back was done within 1 MINUTE of receiving our mains. We had literally not even started eating our food and were waiting cutlery so we could eat.

Cleanliness: On entering the restaurant, it had clearly been a little busy, so the odd plate is excusable but every table we walked past was filthy. Plates everywhere, food all over the place. glasses all over the place and just generally messy and dirty. We observed, on at least 30 occasions that we counted, the staff walking past tables full of empty plates and glasses, adjusting the chairs and walking off to the kitchen (Where the dirty plates go) with empty hands. Why on earth would you walk past a table full of empty plates, on your way to the kitchen and adjust the chairs on said tables without taking the plates or glasses back at the same time on your way?! We were literally gobsmacked at first but then turned it into a game to see how many times we saw it happen. We gave up after 30 or so because it got boring seeing nobody using initiative.

Seriously, sort it out. We have wasted well over £40 on food here and will no longer be coming back. Considering it isn't even table service, everything could be improved, Service, Food, Cleanliness. Severely...

Previously have rated this place highly, and was always the place to go when we went out on a date or with friends or family.

However since the new menu... I've been disappointed over and over. First it started with the halloumi mix it up being a smaller portion, which was upsetting but not the end of the world, so I've tried a few other things on the menu.

The wraps /baguettes are not worth even having on the menu, the chicken and bacon one had such a tiny amount of filling, and the "melted cheese" was a cold piece of American square cheese. (The Korean BBQ burger is great though)

The most recent time I went back to the halloumi mix it up, not realising they've actually changed the deep fried halloumi to 5 halloumi fries which have come out of a freezer bag. Alongside some undercooked freezer bag onion rings, the only bit I enjoyed was the sweet potato fries.

The previous experience with the wrap, and this experience with the halloumi, I did bring up my dissatisfaction with the meal when it was bought out, however I was told this time "they've changed it it used to be amazing now it's naff" but no actual offer of a fix which was upsetting.

The app describes them as crispy halloumi sticks now, while I didn't notice the change of phrase to "sticks" which is my own fault I should have queried, but I can't remember what they labeled the halloumi as previously, these also weren't crispy. Soggy halloumi fries?

It didn't make a meal, I was dissatisfied and there was a lack of customer service/care when we voiced that, which makes me assume they have got that feedback a lot and are bored of it or are not being listened to in the bigger scheme of things.

Service is hit or miss, staff are always friendly and never rude, however as stated above, not always useful problem solvers, or as we've experienced in the past waiting 45 minutes for our plates to be cleared and pre ordered desert to come out (and only when we eventually got up and asked)

Go back to the old menu, even if it means I lose my Korean BBQ 🤣

Edit: shows you don't read the review... Where I stated the issue was voiced at the time and not resolved, simply told yeah that's what they're like now. Haven't been back since when we had previously gone at...

To The Manager/bar staff, I am absolutely astonished at the reply you sent me which you think is acceptable.

I would just like to say we booked a table at your pub on 1st Feb, and apparently it takes your staff 3 days to reserve a table!

Anyway that just show me how incompetent they are and you are as the "Manager" . There was NO other tables offered to us in the pub. We didn't arrive half n hour early at all, and if we had then we would have just had a drink in the bar and waited.

U have seriously got some issues and it's such a shame. But we're just a minority in your eyes, and staff that don't own their business, or have a passion in what they do, and unfortunately you fall into that category, its just just a job, as our visit showed. We have worked in the hospitality industry and I'd be ashamed to have replied to me as you did...... "i can assure u it didn't bother me that you decided to leave" Well it should have! U are the faces of the company, and uve let it down and yourselves too.

It runied a lovely day that I hoped would be finished with a nice relaxing lunch for my friends birthday, it was far from that.

I will be taking this further. Karen

Yesterday I and a friend booked online a table for an eve meal. When we arrived there were some tables that had reserved on them, so I asked which table was ours. Sarah the staff member took us to a table in a darkish corner, so once we sat down we really didn't like it and asked Sarah if we could move, as just opposite there was a better table, she just replied no it's reserved, I replied but so was ours can't we just swap as theres no one at the table yet, again she said we couldn't, so we went up to the bar and spoke to the manager, who was serving drinks, and he said we could swap tables ....as Sarah walked by us she said no it's be requested!!! I replied well she never told us that! The Manager was no help and didnt offer us another table, so we decidedly to leave which didn't bother him either, as Sarah walked by she heard and just shrugged, so unprofessional and unhelpful. The staff appear to need some training on Customer...
