Me and 2 other ladies were recommended here by friends. We come from Leicester and came for the afternoon tea. We arrived a little early to make sure we could find the place and get parked (so we arrived at 1:20 with the table being booked at 1:30) on our arrival we got asked if we had a booking to be told in quotes āyour table is 1:30.ā With no other alternative we were asked to leave and come back which was carried very abrupt, rude and unprofessional. Feeling slightly humiliated we left and had a walk round for 10 minutes. When we cam back on time we were seated right near the door we had just came through with very little space on uncomfortable plastic chairs. We were bumped by the table behind us every time they got up which is not ideal when eating and drinking. When the food finally came out it was very much inadequate. We had 4 tiny finger sandwiches each. The bread was hard but filling was nice thank god. The scones crumbled as they were slices in half falling all over myself and the floor. The cakes were cute⦠however the mini trifle was just full of water. I will never return here again it all felt very rushed and the food and experience itself was a disappointment and definitely not worth the money. Style over quality for sure in this cafe would not recommend unless you would just like an...
Read moreI heard very good things about this cafe but sadly, it did not live up to its expectations. Athmosphere seemed lovely, but I only waited for a take away so I can't properly rate it. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would have rated them a 5 had they not all stood behind the counter making themselves coffees and chating. I didn't mind the chatting much, I get it that sometimes you get bored but drinking coffees should probably be only done at their break time. My next bitter-sweet comment is on the savoury and sweet items I got. Let's start with the good. The flatbread was amazing, £10 well worth it as the portion was very generous and the food was very tasty. Now on with the bad, the coffee cake I got was soooo DRY, the only nice thing about it was the little dollop of salted caramel whipped cream. If you are keeping yourself up to a standard of a pattiserie, then at least you can put some syrup on the sponges to make them moist. Overall dissapointed as the whole reason I came was for the desserts and the one I had I would...
Read moreAfternoon tea with a special friend who recently lost her mum. The place itself is very pretty, the tables rather small and cramped, we were against the flower wall. I liked the ambiance of the cafe and the waitress was pleasant. Over the years I've had many afternoon teas, some in cafes, and once at the Ritz .lucky me! to. On this occasion was somewhat dissapointed. There simply didnt seem enough(I needed more, to feel satisfied). 5 tiny sandwiches..1 scone each, 1 small macaroon, tiny choc, 2 small pots and a small pot of soup. They did offer extra tea, which I was grateful for. All delicious, but for £45, seemed rather skimpy..Just my view. I was still hungry, and could have eaten another slice of cake, but felt reluctant to pay for more! The cakes in the cabinet all looked delicious... I might add, my appetite is small/normal and Im not normally still hungry after afternoon tea.On the contrary, usually need a box to take home what I cant eat.Another scone or peice of cake would have...
