Me and my partner came here for a meal on Saturday evening. We were really looking forward to it, and the Italian theme restaurant at the back of the pub looked really laid back and rustic which was really lovely. We both shared a starter of olives, bread and dipping oil which was yummy. However, I ordered chicken breast in a tomato sauce for main and my partner ordered pizza. When our meals came out, instantly I could smell the chicken had a strong odour, I didnāt want to write it off straight away so I tried the tiniest bit, it was absolutely disgusting 𤮠the chicken was old and clearly wasnāt fresh! I politely told the waiter what was wrong, as I hate complaining it makes me feel dreadful but on this occasion needed to be done. He said heād see what the chef had to say about it but clearly wasnāt happy Iād complained. After nearly 10 minutes he came back to tell me that the chef said the taste was due to the tomato sauce(nothing wrong with my nose or tastebuds, I know the difference š) but he said it in quite a patronising manor to make me feel like I was being a nuisance customer! I felt awkward and uncomfortable after that and wanted to get out asap! I settled on a pizza, which was ok but nothing special. He told my partner they were wood fired pizzas but clearly wasnāt so that was a lie. When he brought out my replacement meal, he continued to be patronising by yet again making a comment about the chicken by saying theyād had the chicken fresh in the previous day, clearly still obvious they were annoyed by my complaint. My partner had ate all his food by the time mine came back out which also spoiled the night. Anyway, I just wanted to make other people aware of how they handle theyāre food complaints which I thought was very unprofessional. I myself work with customers and would never of handled the situation like he did. Needless to say that weāll never ever be revisiting in the future. Big fat...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThank you Alex and Savage for a great weekend at the Dixie Arms this weekend. I was called in advance to warn me that there was disruptive roadworks on during the weekend and offered for me to cancel. I chose not too as I was attending a festival and needed somewhere to stay - and I am glad I did. On arrival I was greeted by Alex and shown to my room by Sav. I was impressed with the size, my room had 3 comfy beds, lots of space, a nice bathroom with a good sized shower. Unfortunately I couldnāt spend a lot of time there, as I was back and forth to my festival- but they kindly gave me a key so I could enter and exit freely. I was greeted and served breakfast every morning, which was delicious and kept me going for most of the day! Alex and Sav are genuine and lovely hard working people - who will happily stop for a chat and tell you about the local area, you are looked after and made to feel very welcome. I am glad I found this place. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again when I am over that way. Thank...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time here and a little disappointed. Chose to eat in the bar area as the restaurant area was closed and very quiet in the bar when we arrived. The food was ok at best, and wait time was far too long for the food ordered. We ordered fish and chips and a toasted sandwich with took 45 minutes to arrive. Only one other person had ordered food at a table behind us, so I couldn't understand the length of time to wait for a simple choice of two meals. The table behind us were also complaining between themselves and commented that it was taking far too long !!
I must say that the service was pleasant though and that did save the day..
One more point, I was surprised too that the pub/bar area looked worn out and could do with a refurb... to me it let down the village feel down, and wasn't really doing its best to compliment the High Street.
All in all not the best...
