Joanna's tea room - I thoroughly recommend! We were a group of 8 and had the afternoon tea, which was one of the best I have had anywhere! The variety of sandwiches and cakeswas wonderful. The sandwhiches were extremely tasty and generous with their fillings. The cakes were fantastic! I particularly loved their cheese straws ( to die for!) , the mini scones, divine lemon posset and the cinammon cream cake was absolutely scrumptious too! I had the gluten free version of the afternoon tea and it was truly excellent.

The tea room handled our group's order admirably and with no fuss at all, as we had one ( me) with food allergies, a pescatarian and one person who loathes cheese. Book in advance and discuss with staff. They are really helpful and make every effort to prepare for you.

The decor is lovely and relaxing and it's worth mentioning that unlike some tea rooms, the chairs are extremely comfortable: they are supportive and padded, ideal if you have any in your group who can become uncomfortable or have bad backs or joints etc.

We celebrated my Mother's 80th birthday with afternoon tea for 17 people at Joanna's Tea Room. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the afternoon tea was gorgeous and very fresh, we had a short wait while they were cooking some of it, during that time our drinks were served, which was perfect because it gave us a chance to chat to each other before we ate. We chose 1 vegetarian afternoon tea along with the normal ones. The photo I've uploaded was the vegetarian afternoon tea. There were savoury items on the bottom plate and middle plates, they were all superb (the triangles of Welsh rarebit were to die for) and the top plate had cakes on it. It was so nice not to be overloaded with too many sweet things, their savour to sweet ratio was perfect. Had afternoon tea recently with family. We had such a lovely time the food was delicious and plentiful with a good choice of sandwiches, pastries, cakes and scones. Jams and clotted cream,was also plentiful ( which is not often the case) , the staff were friendly and attentive. We had had quite specific, and detailed special requests regarding our sandwich preferences. These requests were dealt with so very kindly when I had ordered on the phone and these requests were further confirmed by the very pleasant lady/chef/manager from the kitchen. All the various cakes and pastries were explained and described by this same lady when the food was brought to the table, this also is not usually the case We all agreed (my wife/son and daughter- in law that this was the best Afternoon Tea we had ever had.
