My family and I were in the area today looking for a nice pub/restaurant to have lunch. We decided to take a chance here and we are so pleased that we did.

From the moment we walked in, all the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, they guided us to our table upstairs and ensured that we were comfortable, offering to open the windows for us and even turn on the fan if necessary. The staff were constantly full of smiles.

Our order was taken promptly and the service we received was basically perfect. There wasn’t one moment where I couldn’t get someone’s attention or didn’t have something that I wanted.

The food was delicious and all of us including my sometimes hard to please vegan sister thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Although maybe a little steep in pricing for our preference I can understand why this is the case, as the quality of the food was amazing, along with the customer service. That said our bill for 4 people was quite affordable considering.

The location is also very beautiful, right next to the river Ouse. I think it’d make a lovely place to have a casual drink outside.

I would return here without a doubt, as unfortunately it is very rare to receive such good customer service anywhere else! It’s about 30 mins from us but I think it’s totally worth the drive! Sorry I only had a few quid to tip but be assured you deserved much more! Thank...

We visited twice during a recent stay at a nearby campsite. The first time was early afternoon for a later lunch. It was fairly busy and we sat outside. We also had a small dog in our party of four.

Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The menu is not the usual pub menu. Well some is but with a twist. Some is quite spicy.

We decided to book a table for an evening and asked if sitting inside was possible with a dog. We were told yes it was but we would be seated downstairs in the restaurant. We were also told that the menu would be the same with the addition of Pizzas fresh from a pizza oven.

When we arrived we were told there were no available seats inside. When we said we had booked we were told there was no record of inside seating on the booking. We were shown to am outside seat. We were also to they were not cooking Pizzas.

It was a cool evening so eating outside spoilt the meal as the food got cold. We did not stay for dessert as we were a getting cold. We suspected there were staff issues/shortages as service was not as it was previously.

It's a beautifully placed venue, fine for a lunchtime drink or light meal but not so good...

Really disappointing. We were almost the only guests in the restaurant on a very quiet Wednesday afternoon and our food took almost an hour to arrive with no communication that it was taking longer than expected. Some staff sat around playing on their smartphones in full view of customers which makes you feel like you're being ignored. Our food arrived and the vegetarian in our party was served a meat burger instead of veggie. The rest of the food we only tasted briefly as we had all been so put off our meal by this point that we left, but what we did taste felt like quite low quality, the standard of the food has definitely dropped since previous visits where we enjoyed the food.

The owner was initially very apologetic, although her following attempt at making excuses for our bad experience at her establishment wasn't well received by us, nor were we invited to come back again another time to try and improve on that experience, which is a shame as we are local and like to support local businesses.

Would like to think that this place can improve again, but won't be rushing to go back there, all in all it felt very...

I wanted to like this place as it looked great from the outside. However, immediately on sitting down the lighting was just too bright removing any relaxing atmosphere. The pricing indicated something special was going to come, but the fish and chips had the quality of a school canteen. I can honestly say that it was the worst fish and chips I had ever tasted. The fish was incredibly greasy and felt like it had been defrosted in the microwave before cooking as the consistency was like it was reconstituted fish, but with the skin being clearly there I don't see how that is possible. Anyway, the fish was terrible. The chips felt like they had been precooked and reheated. Overall, we left as quickly as we could. On the way out I was asked how the food was, and I said it was not the best. They immediately offered 15% off and I accepted politely. However, even that was way overpriced for the quality. It was a big shame.

Popped in unannounced for lunch with elderly father after visiting nearby Sacred Stones burial area. The staff were fantastic, attentive but not too much as to become annoying. Drinks were brought to our table quickly despite the busy lunchtime trade - a nice pint of Icebreaker for me and a wine for father. Delighted to be able to have some crunchy yet flavoursome whitebait as a starter - fresh from the South West coast. Even happier to be able to have Moroccan Lamb as a main. Wow! Totally tasty and a wonderful dish. The lamb was cooked perfectly, some crunch on the outside but pink in the middle. Giant couscous, pomegranate seeds, fresh coriander - delicious. Thanks to the team, it was lovely.

Booked a group of ten of us for Sunday lunch and had to pre-order our food orders. We had a few days to complete this so didn't feel rushed. Arrived and was seated upstairs with drinks we hastily purchased downstairs. Half of us had the roast pork which was done really well except we didn't get any apple sauce. However when I mentioned it after to people at the other end of the banquet table, they said they'd had a bowl, which was slightly annoying! However all the meals were cooked really well with no other problems. Dessert for me was a rhubarb crumble crem brulee which almost blew me away for flavour and texture. Absolute star of the show.
