Worst experience I have ever had… even though it is my local Indian restaurant.
Arrived on time for table, as soon as we arrived. We were ‘pointed’ to our table without a word or hello. Order was taken and poppadoms & drinks arrived swiftly. However, after a long 50 minutes our main course arrived. I am a frequent eater of Indian cuisine, however two of us ended up with the hottest dansak’s known to man. Also the chicken tikka masala was almost radioactive looking. After speaking to the waiter on the hotness, the chicken dansak was taken away and within 2 minutes brought back as a watery sweet horrid sauce. When it was on the way to the table, a member of our group spotted the waiter drop the spoon out of the bowl onto the floor and appear to pick it up and put it back in the bowl. It was addressed with the waiter who became defensive and argued it did not happen. We were extremely put off by this and put our knives and forks down and requested the bill to leave. Only 10£ was taken off the final bill and there was no apology from anyone on the service or quality of food.
Regardless to say I won’t be going back (even though my local Indian restaurant) and am extremely disappointed I had to pay anything towards...
Read moreWhat a gem! We ended up staying at a hotel a few minutes walk away. The attached pub/restaurant was very noisy, not a very relaxed atmosphere and the food that we saw being served looked disappointing so we thought we'd go for a walk and see what was around. We saw this place and walked in. What a lovely place! The service was so incredibly friendly, the food menu delicious and varied and the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. The great sign of a restaurant is repeat customers and many of the other people there were greeted by name as old friends by the staff. Having never l been to St Neots, let alone here before, we were still made to feel so at home and really enjoyed the lovely food (we were a group of 4 people aged between 12 and 80 and we all loved all the different dishes we chose... we had to share them so we could all try everything!). Thoroughly recommend this place. If we lived closer, we would...
Read moreHonestly, I feel like perhaps we came on a bad day? I understand the pressure of the current deal the government has put on to encourage us to "eat out to help out " but having arranged a family meal for an anniversary we'd have been out regardless. We found the service to be terrible (rushed, never asked if food was OK / any more drinks needed) the table was started to be cleared as people were still eating (!) the toilets were horrendous (urine on the floor, not cleaned regularly throughout the evening) and even witnessed another table complain about missing food that they'd been charged for. Having seen reviews singing the Akbars praises I really hope that our evening was a one off! Not one to complain at all but it's not somewhere I'd rush back to based on my...
