Not one to usually complain but we were really upset with how we were spoken to by a member of staff. My partner asked for oak milk in his coffee and was asked if it was due to an allergy. We then had to wait for an 'allergy trained' member of staff to serve us. Once she came over, straight away we felt as though she didnt want to give us the time of day. Instead of saying "what can I get for you", it was "what do you want?". My partner was a little confused as he'd just given his order to the other lady who seemed to put it in her till, and the allergy friendly options weren't explained so he wasn't entirely sure what he could have. The lady said there was milk in the maple hazel syrup, so I tried to explain to him that this meant there would be traces of milk as there would be in caramel (he doesn't often go to coffee shops like Costa so isn't totally clued up on the use of syrups, etc.). To which the staff member said "allergy or intolerance?". I tried to explain that it is an allergy however he is less likely to have a reaction to the amount of milk in a pump of syrup. Before I finished, she spoke over me and said "so it's an intolerance then" and proceeded to process the order on the till without listening to us further. It IS an allergy as he has an EpiPen and his face and throat blows up if he has too much milk, but he can get away with tiny amounts if he's not directly drinking it, but clearly the lady on the till knows better. I just found it incredibly rude and totally dismissive. Perhaps these 'allergy trained' members of staff need some further training to understand that not all allergies present in the same way and there can be different levels...
Read moreMy mum went through the drive thru and ordered a chocolate fudge brownie frappe with no coffee no cream, due to not being allowed to have caffeine for health reasons. She got to the window to pay in which so got handed a drink with cream in it. She explained to the bloke at the window that she ordered a drink with no coffee or cream, in which the workers then had a discussion and she overheard them saying “just tell her it’s got no coffee in it and just take the cream off”. In which the workers deemed it appropriate to stand at the sink and flick her cream off with HER straw. My mum then refused the drink and asked for a new one to be made, in which the workers looked around at eachother and asked my mum to go and park up whilst they make a new drink… They bought the “new drink” to her and after the first sip she realised that it didn’t taste the same as it usually does when she’s ordered it, and wasn’t sure if they’d actually made her a new drink or just changed the straw from the previous one to hide the cream.. Shocking customer service skills & most definitely need a LOT...
Read moreBig terrace space, but only 4 small tables with only 2 chairs per table aloud !! Not good 👎 I went to this Costa this morning with the intention to seat outside and have a coffee in the sun.I found a free small table but I noticed it was in the shade and the wind was a bit chilly,so I decided to move it where the sun was shining, for a more pleasant experience, making sure I was still 2m apart from the nearest table.Well... !!They told me off !! And said to me that wasn't aloud, like I committed a crime or something !! I asked the reason why,and no even the manager gave me a logical and understandable explanation. I did pointed out to him that that terrace is big enough to allocate 3 or 4 more tables, ( with social distance in place ),but he looked like he wasn't even bother the hassle,or extra...
