Gandhi Pizza — Restaurant in Ipswich

Best Indian restaurant in Ipswich! I've been to Gandhi since about 2005, it never disappointed me. I went there again tonight (Wednesday evening) with my partner, we prebooked a table. We were 5 minutes late, the restaurant was busy when we got there, but the waiter led us to our table without problem. We ordered 2 starters, 2 mains, rice, nan bread & a side + beer. Reach course came at right timing, not too rushed, not too long waiting. The waiters were very polite, friendly, efficient, attentive & professional. Each course was cooked to perfection, my lamb & my partner's chicken were both tender, juicy & full of flavour. The curries were tasty, have the heat & kicks & not over-the-top spicy, the portions were generous (I finished half of my lamb dish), the price was very reasonable! We cannot fault it. If you like proper spicy Indian curry, this is the place...

In Ipswich for 2 nights, we just found this place not far from our hotel. Usual choice of Indian dishes and prices are ok. However both dishes were tasteless: chicken had probably been boiled before being put in the curry, the rice was lukewarm and had no flavour, the lamb was dry. Staff did not seem to enjoy being here, one of them was eating behind the counter. Service was quick though and they try to be nice when paying with a warm towel and a chocolate. I’d rather have a good curry though. They did no ask how was the food or we had a good time. Last point, lemonade was cheap but you get a glass full of ice. Basic restaurant tricks to make money on cheap items. I don’t get the positive reviews and I don’t like writing negative reviews unless I feel like the owners don’t care about their business...

You will find all native Indian dishes on the Menu .

Now wherever I have travelled, Indian dishes lack the authentic Indian taste that you will find in India - which is a bit obvious ! And all Indian cuisine will more be like "equivalents" of the real stuff .

But still Gandhi serves good food - whether authentic Indian or not .

I enjoyed dining here .

And would recommend it to anyone...
