Kwan Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Ipswich

Probably the best Thai in the UK I've been to. I've been going to the Kwan Thai for well over a decade when I'm in Ipswich. I've tried many Thai's through the years, but I always compare them against this one. The food is superb. They really know what they're doing and do it to a very high standard. The staff are excellent and very attentive. I've never had to try and 'get someone's attention' even when they've been full to the rafters. It's a small place, so it has a nice cosy feeling. But, because its small it van feel a little claustrophobic for some. The only downside are the tiny loos, but their restricted by space because they're in a very old historic building. Came here for wedding day meal, excellent and friendly staff. Food was absolutely first class as was the service. Will definitely come again and recommend to anyone to come as well. 27/07/19 We came here again on our wedding anniversary and again fabulous meal and fantastic staff. Still 5 stars, would give 6 if we could. We asked for chef's recommendations so we didn't know what was coming and were pleasantly surprised. Brilliant, just brilliant. 12/12/20 Ordered takeaway from here, just fabulous.....again!!!! This place NEVER fails...

2 out of 4 dishes were not good. Sent the noodke dish back as it was mushy and dark brown really not nice. The scallops is special thai sauce wasn't nice either. The starter was nice and the curry was nice but too hot, but that's just personal taste. Also we felt really rushed..... we were advised when hooking for 6.30 that we had to be out by 8.30pm but we had finished and rushed out by 7.30 not a pleasant relaxed meal. One staff started clearing our plates after we had said we hadn't finished! Such a shame as it was my birthday treat and I was really looking forward to it. Not worth the expensive treat of £67 to feel so...
