Starfish — Restaurant in Ipswich

Ordered here a few times recently. Big family order each time. Ordered a wide variety from the menu, including fish (cod), curry sauce, onion rings, burgers, nuggets, sausages, hot dogs, chips and a few other bits for good measure.

Everything has always been piping hot and very well cooked, great quality fresh food. Personally some of the nicest cooked and battered fish I've had in a long time, not all greasy and wet, lovely crispy delicious fish! The rest of the food also perfect and the curry sauce is also really tasty, kids loved their food too!

Adding to the great food, the prices are very reasonable and you certainly won't be disappointed giving this place a go.

A quick but significant update; the original lovely owners have sold up and moved on, so reviews to date are no longer appropriate and didn't ought to be still available on this site. The new owners, trained by Wing, are apparently buying their fish from the same source and doubtless trying to emulate the former quality of product that was enjoyed by all but they are new to the business and on a steep learning curve. No salt or vinegar upon opening the takeaway bag.

Fish was ok but was dry on inside and oily on outside.

This is a cash only only establishment and I have a right mind to report it to HMRC. No receipt.

I paid 30p more for the fish and chips as a gesture of good will. When it come to asking for a squeeze of ketchup they tried to charge 20p. I didn't have it as gave an overdue tip and had no coins left.
