Food here at cleckheaton is always very nice. Staff were welcoming as usual. Only 3 tables in at about 6.30pm. So the atmosphere was somewhat lacking from when we've been before. Sometimes not being very busy means good service. Also quicker service. We have previously gone to the Batley one. Ordered a deavola pizza. This was too hot to eat. Loads of chillies which we never ordered. I should have sent it back really. We ordered from the menu 2 course's 2 for £16.00. After having the 2 course's we had a brief chat and decided to go for the 3 course's for £20.00. They brought the dessert menu. We chose from the dessert menu . When the bill came we were charge more than expected. On challenging this when we went to pay, they said our dessert was not part of the 3 for £20.00. They knew we had ordered from the 2 for £16.00. So should have known we should have been charged for the 3 for £20.00. Should have argued this at the time. However we have decided to not return here again. Felt cheated. This is a shame as we've used this restaurant for about 10 years. They may have gained a couple of £'s that day. They will lose hundreds more from our family in the long run now. What a shame for a good restaurant. All for a...
Read moreLate decision to go and we managed to book a table for 2. Both ordered steak dishes, medium rare. I've never had better steak. Melted in my mouth and the peppercorn sauce was superb. Ordered the house Red wine, which was a Merlot. Had been aired long enough this was ready for drinking as soon as it arrived and it was lovely. Pudding, or dessert if you're posher than I am, was a Fudge Tiramisu. Not as coffee drenched as a traditional tiramisu but crikey it was lovely. We received a complimentary Tomato garlic bread before our mains which tied us over nicely until our mains arrived, and the meal was rounded off with a complimentary Limoncello. First time visiting but won't be out last. A true gem of a restaurant and the staff are polite, friendly and very good at what...
