My favourite café!!! Set over two levels this café has seating outside, in the main entrances (as there are two), the seating continues like a maze up and around the building into little quiet nooks, and then moves upstairs where it opens up...A great level to book a party or function as there is also a bar up there!! The staff are amazing, so friendly and welcoming, it's like going over to your best friend's house.. nothing is too much for them. The food is great, always cooked fresh and delicious. The Taste Café also makes a fantastic afternoon tea... The very best presentation... Stacked with food and fruit it's a sight to behold. The toilets are on the first floor and are always spotless. Went to this cafe with my wife on Sat 18th November, it was recommended by a friend. We ordered 2 all day breakfasts which arrived in about 20 minutes, all seemed well until we began eating . The fried eggs were undercooked to the point where not only was the yolk runny but so was the white. The sausage was very pale looking, the hash browns were just a soft mush, no crispy crunch at all, and the toast didn't even look like it had seen a toaster. Finally, the little pot of beans which is discreetly placed in the middle of everything on the plate, was, to our surprise, a mixture of baked beans, kidney beans, and one other which I didn't recognise. Quite often we go to Blend cafe in cleckheaton but 3rd October we decided to have a change at Taste, we ordered our food and received the order receipt @10.23 waited 45 mins for an English breakfast and smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast! The bacon was undercooked the mushrooms were cold, the egg on full English was hard, scrambled egg was dry! To wait that long we expected better!!
