Visited the waterwitch to celebrate my birthday with my wife and kids. . It's a lovely little pub situated right next to the canal and a short walk from Lancaster city centre's main shopping high streets. . The staff were so welcoming and friendly and made us feel so welcome on arrival. We didn't book in advance as Monday lunch times are generally quieter than other days and we had no trouble getting a table for 4 inside. Because of the good weather, outside tables were much more in demand so it may be wise to consider this if being outside is a priority for you. . There was a really good range of mains to choose from and the scampi was perfect. The bar also served a good range of beers on tap including craft ales, and European favourites. . The pub also has its own ice cream bar, which was incredibly good value. Lemon meringue and Cadbury cream egg ice creams were particularly good. . In summary, a lovely pub and a great experience.

Had a great meal at The Water Witch. They where great with last minute booking changes and pre orders with great wheel chair access. Food arrived within 4 minutes of being seated. I know it was a preorder but still, it was very well timed. The steak was exactly what I wanted, and the peppercorn source was👌amazing. Cheesecake was biscoff with Wallis clotted cream icecream and a passion fruit mix sauce, the base was soft and the cheese melted in your mouth. On top of this customer service was perfect. Our server/waiter greated us when we arrived and showed us to our table. Overall 10/10 I had a great night and Will be returning for an afternoon cheese board.

Lovely canal side location. Cracking Sunday dinner, all home cooked, and a decent selection of beers, both cask and keg. Ate inside, then moved outside onto the canalside terrace to enjoy more drinks in the sunshine. However, disappointing that we were told that our tab had to be settled straight away as our inside table number was needed for another guest. A blatant lie as our empty table was clearly visible through the window. Disappointing end to a first visit to a good pub...and it cost them another two pints and two desserts, as we finished off elsewhere. Where's the trust? We told the bar staff we were moving outside as we left our inside table.

I haven't been here for a few years but it is still as nice. I was on my own with my two small dogs which are welcome, I sat outside as it is fantastic sat on the canalside. I only had a starter the spicy chicken wings and there were delicious and crispy not greasy at all, I also had a Guinness Zero which I'm glad they sold. There was even a paddle boarder who got off for a pint. The only slight gripe I had and it wouldn't put me off coming back is there were a few tables available outside so I went in to order but I was told I need a table number first, I had to go back out find a table and go back in and order. I tried to explain it could well be taken by the time I go back to it but was told that's what I had to do, so I went out dogs and all looked at a table number go back in and join the back of the queue. I had nothing on me to put on the table bar my phone and keys which obviously I never. I went back in and ordered when I went back to the table it was taken. I explained I had just ordered food to that table but they just looked at me so I went to another table and told them to send my order over. I just think it could all be avoided if they gave me a reserved sign to put on the table it would have made it less stressful. My original review below. Great food, four of us and all liked it, I had calamari and seafood chowder both absolutely gorgeous. I'm type one diabetic and my bloods were dropping so my daughter went and explained and they were absolutely brilliant and couldn't of been more helpful. Oh and we ate outside and it's stunning right on the edge...

We were greeted by a member of staff who told us to sit at table 16, my party and I had no prior knowledge of their seating system, and were told to sit on that “table in the corner”. We told to order at the bar which we were content with, however, when I went up to order for my friends and I, the service was appalling, the man serving me was completely uninterested in what I was saying, he was continually engaging in what seemed like gossip with his fellow coworker, while a paying customer was stood right in front of him. I was not told whether I needed to wait for my drinks or not so I decided to wait, while this occurred, my server continued his gossip session, at which point I interrupted to ask for my receipt, which seemed like an inconvenience to him. I sat and then the food came out which is where things took a turn. My friends gluten free fish and chips was fine, my other friend and I order the same meal of Pork Belly, one meal was smaller and had a portion of crackling, one looked like a plimsole with no crackling and no flavour. The “seasonal veg” served was clearly from a freezer bag, and overall the food was bad. This could’ve been amended with one simple thing, a check back, yet nothing of the sort occurred. The staff seemed more concerned with gathering behind the bar to sample their ice cream and talk to one another, no one acknowledged us as we left, I will not be returning. For an £82 spend, the service at McDonalds would’ve been a much better choice for a Good Friday meal. The music playlist...
