Sadly whilst the food tastes good the deli service continues to be appalling. I dont know whether to laugh or cry. Today as the third customer in the store I waited 20 minutes to be served before deciding enough was enough and left. When i first walked in there were 2 guys behind the counter but only 1 serving. Then one of them left without offering to serve anyone else but came back when the other guy rang a door bell to tell him he needed him. He came back in, sliced up some sandwiches for no one in the deli and left again. The remaining gent took the maximum amount of time possible to complete every single task - take the meat from the fridge, walk over to a different counter, unwrap the meat, slowly trim the meat before going to the slicer, slowly slice the meat and then switch it off before asking how many slices the customer actually wanted and then having to switch it on and slowly slice again, wrap up the slices, ring up the price, rewrap the meat and put it back in the fridge before asking if the customer wants anything else, which of course they did and the whole process starts again. The second guy is out the back chatting away, doesn't come back to see if he can help and the first guy doesn't ask. Don’t get me wrong the people are very friendly when they speak to you, they just have no respect or understanding for peoples time. I don’t mind waiting 5 minutes when theres only 1 person working and the person is being as efficient as possible, but ignoring customers and being slow is poor service. I cant see them lasting long if they only manage to serve 6 customers an hour. Its a real shame that something so easily addressed - efficient customer service - continues to fall so short...
Read moreI had lunch here with two friends and our babies. We were sat alone upstairs and enjoyed a lovely lunch together. Given that we were alone upstairs we had allowed our children to explore the space but were careful that they hadn't disturbed any other customers or create any extra mess away from where we were eating. We were very respectful and got on our hands and knees to clean up after our children where they had been eating in their highchairs.
Unfortunately the chef informed us that it was unacceptable to have our children out of the high chairs. I was unaware that he preferred screaming babies to curious happy ones! As a parent I would also prefer my baby to quietly and politely sit in her high chair for the entirety of a meal, but asking an energetic 11 month old to do this is not always possible. Of course, we could always have got an ipad out but I'm sure we would have been judged for allowing our children to have too much screen time at such a young age and this is not how I have chosen to parent (absolutely zero judgement for anybody who does! It's a personal choice). I think the comment was out of a genuine lack of understanding/empathy from the chef rather than anything malicious, but it left us with a sour taste after what should have been a lovely lunch. Being a parent is hard and we are all trying to do our best. I hope in the future you can be more understanding and supportive. In the meantime, if you have an energetic child, this is not the...
Read moreIn my experience this restaurant does not much care for its customers, or at least not its customers with young children. I booked to visit Delicioza at the start of this month with a group of mums and young babies. I rang the day before and spoke to two people on the phone; I explained to them both that we would be bringing prams and would require a table for six with enough space to put the prams nearby. I was told that would be fine and gave my card details to secure the booking. When we arrived we were told that our table was upstairs because the staff that day did not know that we would be bringing prams. In the end we were sat in a very small sheltered area outside with our prams left in the courtyard. During the course of our visit it rained so the prams and our belongings all got wet. Our food (panini and pasta) arrived in two lots, the first after 45 minutes and the second over an hour, with no apology when we pointed out the delay. During our two-hour visit to the restaurant we were checked on only once, after about 90 minutes had passed. The day after our visit I rang to give some feedback about our experience and was told that the manager was on annual leave, but that’d he’d be in touch the following week. I have not heard back. I won’t be going back, and neither will the other mums, which is a shame because we are local and meet for lunch every Thursday and are always looking to support independent businesses that value...
