I booked table for 3 as it was my wife’s birthday. Location of restaurant is in very nice place, it’s next to Chapel Allerton Aldi. One could park in street or near to the Co-Op parking for 2 hours, I am sure restaurant is thinking about their dedicated parking space in future while considering their busy days. It has beautiful outside and street view with not so busy road.
Restaurant is based on Goan Theme and gave impression of place back in India with their decorative items and lights.
We got really good table in location to sit. Ambience was amazing and atmosphere was lovely with nice background music being played.Their staff is amazingly hospitable. Even it weekday but they were busy but didn’t show hurry or compelled for placing order. After we settled down we ordered starters, drinks and main corse altogether to save time. They have brilliant menu with variety of food. Order was served on time and taste was amazing. Fried Aubergines with Humus was excellent dish to try. Their food portions are adequate for everyone. I’d say it’s more than enough and don’t make you feel short of portion.
On top of their tasty food most amazing thing was personal touch, it was given by their Owner/Manager and serving staff. They periodically asked about food and our time being spent there. I saw their Manager/Owner going to every table (around 40) and asking their order and “all ok”.
Surprise came at the end after bill was paid and I asked for receipt, staff knew about occasion and they came with small complimentary cake, candle and singing Happy Birthday for my wife. It was amazing surprise for us and made my wife’s day. A day we’ll spent by all of us.
As I am not photo enthusiast so habitually didn’t capture any but it’s my realisation that next time I should capture for such beautiful place.

Read moreDined in here for the first time. Got off to a bit of a shaky start as my cocktail was spilled and it took a long time for our order to be taken. However the cocktail was absolutely stunning, got to be in my top 5 cocktails ever. I think it was the "Tabula Beach" one? Hopefully remembering right! It was sweet but not too sweet, aromatic and refreshing.
For my starter I got the Baga 65 which was just okay, didn't wow me. My partner had the squid which he said was nice.
For my main I ordered the Goan lamb shank. WOW! It was phenomenal, amazing flavours. Big portion. I would highly recommend ordering it with the sweet naan and / or saffron rice (I had it with a bit of both, in fact we ordered another sweet naan) I originally had it with plain rice and it was not as enjoyable as with the delicious sweet naan and saffron rice. It was so tasty. My partner had the mutton curry and said it was lovely. I personally found the mutton taste too strong, but that is just personal preference.
The bartender waitress with glasses was lovely, friendly and very prompt when I wanted to order another of the delicious cocktails.
Will go again some time...
Read moreI was excited to try De Baga. I thought the environment was lovely, both inside and out with its own charm. The service was attentive and pleasant. I ordered a non alcoholic cocktail with black salt which was a mistake but I saw quite a few people drink so personal taste I guess. The starter was lovely, a fried aubergine and broccoli dish. We waited a long time for the main but my husband ordered lamb shank so I guess that is to be expected. He was happy with his dish, I however, wasn't. I ordered the Dhal Makani. It was under the main curry dishes so I thought it would be substantial. It was really just a bowl and nice flavoured curry sauce, there were very few lentils or beans in there. It just didn't feel like it was an adequate meal. The flavour was good but it lacked the body of a dhal. I always think a thali plate is wonderful if you prefer vegan food as it gives variety. ...
