This coffee shop deserves no stars for its service as we were subjected to discrimination today by a member of their staff who refused us entry, basically forced us out of the shop because we had a baby in a pram and a toddler. I am utterly appalled and I hope the staff member feels ashamed of herself. I visited this afternoon with my daughter and 2 grandchildren for coffee and food as we needed to feed my grandson who is 6 months old and my 3 year old grandson. We had a pram so the lady questioned us about having a pram which was not large and tried to sit us on a thin breakfast bar which had stools that were not suitable for my young grandson as he would possibly have fallen off. When I explained that my grandson is more suited to the chairs and table she rudely said “ the shop isn’t big enough for a pram and it’s lunchtime which is our busiest time. Can you put your pram outside” she began to push our pram out and did not make us feel welcome so we said we would just go somewhere else as she didn’t deserve our custom. “ ok that’s fine” she said. So we left. I wonder if she would’ve said this to a person in a wheelchair or an elderly person who requires a walking frame. . It is discrimination and people should not be allowed to treat people like this because they want to visit with their children. I would not recommend this coffee shop and I feel they need to be closed down if that’s how they treat the customers. Please avoid at all cost. The owner the next day replied to my review trying to make excuses and call me dishonest. This is not the case I fully told the truth. She pushed myself and family out of the shop and touched the pram which was my daughters property. I did not block the doorway! I was not rude. Yes I revisited the shop because I wanted to let the owner know that she should be ashamed with herself. I was not the person who was rude, it was the owner who certainly does not know how to communicate and be civil with her customers. She discriminated against us. People need to know what type of...
Read moreThis deli/coffee shop is the hub of chapel allerton. every time you go in, no matter when you were last there or even if its your first visit, you get treated like a long lost friend by staff and customers alike. some people would describe it as too small, but i think thats part its charm. its not small. its a good size without being cramped. another review says there is too many staff... i bet they would complain if there was less staff and they had to wait longer. never have i seen any member of staff stood loitering. they are always all busy doing something, whether it cleaning, serving, topping up displays. they chat to all their customers, but that is what sets this place apart from the rest. they connect with everyone who walks in the doors. i have never seen anyone complaining about anything. ive been in there frequently since the day it opened and never had a bad visit. the food is excellent quality and a large variety for all tastes and diet requirements. nobody is left out. they serve (in my opinion) the best coffee in the area and whilst it may be pricier than some of the other takeaway sandwich shops.. you really get what you pay for. excellent service, excellent quality and excellent portions. ignore any negative reviews you see about this place... those people obviously just want to pick holes in nothing. if it wasn't for the fact i live in london and only get to visit crust and crumb a couple times a year, i would easily be in here on a...
Read moreLovely brunch here. Sat outside and ordered the brunch stack. All the flavours worked great together, really tasty. Poached egg was undercooked though, globby whites needed another minute or two. Nice coffee. Partner got bacon sarnie, said it was simple and nice.
Picked up a scotch egg, nice but the egg was hard boiled not runny. Also picked up some coffee beans, not tried them yet though.
The area might be a bit overwhelming for some. Chapel A busy on a Saturday morning, beeping pedestrian crossing, smells from drains. Not cafes...
