A Kitchen, Bar & Event Space open daily for breakfast and late lunch, as well as Sunday Roasts. If you’re looking for somewhere classy but casual, with a fantastic menu combining unique twists on classic brunch & lunch dishes with some European inspired flair, utilising local products and suppliers, with a quality coffee or cocktail on the side, then this would be a lovely choice. This dog-friendly venue has a concise menu that rotates seasonally incl. VE & V dishes. Drinks include specially crafted coffee & other hot drinks prepared by expert baristas. Their beer, wine & cocktail menu also offers a low/none-alcohol range. Fearn’s have a bar that’s open ’til late which hosts DJs every weekend, with outside seating and live music. I took a couple of friends for lunch one Saturday, here’s what we enjoyed (menu subject to change); Black bean & beet hummus, British halloumi, poached egg, toast + added streaky bacon – Loved this! It made a comforting, filling brunch. The bacon was lovely and crisp and the egg cooked perfectly. Lamb flatbread, leek, aubergine, yoghurt, pomegranate x 2 – both of my friends opted for this dish because and I am sure you’ll agree, it sounds so delicious; and it was! Salt & pepper chips – proper chunky chips with a bit of spice, lots of saltiness and a bit of a curry flavour; these were yummmyy Cocktails; Espresso Martinis, Spicy Mango Marg – bit like a mix of margarita and porn star martini & unexpectedly moreish & Rhubarb & Berry Fizz Chai Latte – a warming, sweet and autumnal drink, mmmm I couldn’t fault Fearns for anything during our visit. The sun was shining through the large windows, the drinks & food were super and it was a lovely setting to catch up with friends before going into Leeds for a few drinks. Would love to return to try their Sunday Roasts or their Baked Bean Curry with deep-fried tofu sounds fabulous. Find out more about this bar & kitchen on their website here. 💷 Spend: Approx £30pp for food and couple of drinks ⏰ Open Hours: Food served daily 8/9am (weekends) – 4:30pm, bar open until 9pm Thurs – Sat 🚗 No free parking

First time experience at Fearns unfortunately not a pleasant one. We were looking forward to having the Sunday roast they seem to be so proud of. Ordered x2 Roast beefs and they were a struggle to eat. Starting with a small oversight as mash wasn't listed on the comes with list, we would have ordered one to come without mash. Then the roasts showed up in what i can only describe as bowls, super odd choice of crockery as there's virtually no space to cut your food and get around comfortably. Drenched in gravy to cover the mash tasting super bland and boring, some of the veg could have done more time steaming, and the worst of it all the cut of beef (x2 slices per portion for 20£/head roasts) were cut as thick as my thumb, overcooked and gristly as hell. All this to tackle we were provided the bluntest of knives...it was a horrible experience and we had to leave quite a bit of food behind as it was inedible. After flagging this to one of the servers we were comped 1 drink of around £6...not enough to make up for the mishap to be quiet honest. When paying we didn't not receive an itemized bill or anything just got the card reader shoved at us, also not really how that should have been done. The menu seems nice and the place is very dog friendly, they had a cute little market going in the back portion of the restaurant (Tilly & Primrose) which was the main reason we picked this place to eat at. We will give it another go but this experience was not pleasant especially on our wedding anniversary. Sad to leave a review of a subpar performance 😢

Fearns is adding another touch of glamour to the Leeds Dockland area. From the moment I walked in, I loved the atmosphere. It’s a big space and you don’t feel people are on top of you, as you do in so many other bars. There were some cool beats coming from the DJ and everything you need to get started on a great evening. Some friends thought the music was a bit too loud. While we waited for the rest of our guests to arrive, we sat on some very comfy sofas in the bar area. We ordered drinks and settled in. There seemed to be a nice, inclusive atmosphere to the whole place. It wasn’t too long before we moved onto a table in the dining area looking out through large glass windows, for again, a spacious feel to the whole experience. We had the taster menu (£25). It was 5 small courses: meats and cheeses (shared), grilled courgettes with a tasty yoghurt and leak oil sauce, deep fried mushrooms, pork and finally, sticky toffee pudding. Each course is small. Once all were consumed, I was not feeling hungry at the end. It’s fair to say that some courses were better than others, but all were of a good standard. The oyster mushroom course was fried in strips which reminded me of chicken. We were there for a friend’s birthday and ordered 2 bottles of wine which were very pleasant and made the whole experience even better. Would I return? I would.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Without a doubt the worst food establishment I’ve ever had the displeasure of visiting. I will be raising this with their management. Booked a table for 3 for Mother’s Day for Sunday lunch, paid a £30 deposit for the table. We arrived and the place was dead, so quiet and no atmosphere at all. Just a few students working away on laptops and bored looking staff behind the bar. We went up to the bar and gave my name for the booking to which we got told to just sit anywhere and they’d come take our order. We went over to the area with tables and saw a few had reservation cards on them, I couldn’t see one anymore with our name on nor could we just sit anywhere as we were told. Went back over to the bar to ask why we didn’t have a table reservation given I’d paid £30 online to which I was told well not all reservations were confirmed. I said how is my reservation not been confirmed when I’ve paid £30, she honestly was looking at me like a piece of dirt on her shoe at this point and said jn the rudest tone she could muster ‘sorry is there a problem here’. I said no there isn’t a problem however I’m just trying to understand why I’ve paid £30 online to reserve a table then we’ve just been told to sit anywhere when some tables are reserved. She said we don’t always have time to put reservation cards out. We said ok, and went to sit down. She came and put the cutlery down on the table looking like she was chewing a wasp, and stormed off without taking our drinks. We had to get up and go order at the bar, which wasn’t a problem, however we were told it’d be table service. Ordered drinks at the bar, all fine. Our food arrived and never in my life have I had food served so cold to me in a ‘restaurant’ before. It was literally ice cold. Also looked nothing like it did online. All clearly frozen and some small attempt to reheat. We said to the guy serving us we’re really sorry but we need to send the food back it’s stone cold. He didn’t even say anything just snatched the plates away and stormed off. When he came to collect the last plate we said please can we just have a refund (at this point we were fed up, the staff had been rude and the food stone cold). He literally huffed and went fine (as if we were asking to take money out of his pocket?). We went up to the bar where he was stood and he said abruptly what do you need refunding, so we said the food please and he goes well how much was it, so we said about £93. He said ‘about?’ And smirked at his colleague, so I said sorry you had our table number did you not so surely you know how much to refund us? And he just shook his head. We said do you need the card we paid with and he went no it’s done you can go now. I’ve never in my life had to leave a restaurant because of their hostile, rude, arrogant and plain nasty staff. Avoid this place like the plague...

Came here for a birthday meal, which was made clear at the time of booking. Upon entering we noticed that the restaurant area was empty and our ears were battered by music from the lower bar area. Food was pretty good, and apart from the Yorkshire cheese plate, reasonably priced. We liked the short succinct menu, and focus on local produce. Service was acceptable. However this place doesn't know whether it's a restaurant or a club. The music played by a dj in the bar area was so loud we couldn't converse across the table. I mean seriously loud, which sort of defeats the point of going out with friends for a meal. We raised the issue with the waiter who said it was always like this. Seemed like he wasn't really bothered by our complaint, which was odd for a new business. I pointed out that maybe this should be mentioned when a booking was taken, as then we could have chosen somewhere a bit more conducive to conversation and relaxation over a meal. To be fair the waiter did ask for the music to be turned down, but this was only marginal and within a few minutes it was back to the previous volume. We spent £125 here. No apology, no offer of a reduction or compensation. As I mentioned above, the food was pretty good, and the place was fine if you want to eat while having your brain rattled around in your skull by sheer volume. Maybe some people like that sort of thing, but not us. Obviously were disappointed, and equally obviously, we won't be back. Here's a quote from Fearns website: 'Dishes are served socially for friends to share over conversation'. The irony!

Oh, and if you like to feel intimidated by a huge, slavering, vicious looking dog, then this is also the place for you. God knows how the dog's sensitive eardrums coped...
