The Sculpture Gallery — Attraction in Leeds

Had a great 2 days learning the basics of sculpture from David. I thought it would be really difficult, or require brute strength, but with David’s guidance I was able to turn out a sample carving with both concave and convex surfaces and my design of a seashell. I was pleased and surprised with the end result, and it has left me keen to learn more. The studio at Seagull Paints was good ( handy parking, nice pub for lunch) and it was great that all tools and materials were included. The sculpture gallery is a real asset to Leeds and the wider creative community. The works on display are quite beautiful and varied, and the price of the sculptures is very reasonable given the quality of the pieces.

I have just spent a brilliant weekend learning how to sculpt and carve stone at the Sculpture Gallery. David, the tutor was brilliant. He was calm and explained everything in easy to understand terms. I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who is interested or curious about learning how to start in sculpture.
