If you like your burgers this place is hard to beat. Yes it's not the cheapest place for a burger or beef dog and fries but if your after a cheap burger then there are other places for that. But if your after a burger made in front of you from fresh ingredients (with loads of different toppings to choose from) and fries that are simply delicious then Five Guys is definetly worth a try. They do use peanut oil to cook with and peanuts are available on the counter tops to eat while waiting for your food which is nice but obviously not good for people with a nut allergy. The the staff have always been friendly and welcoming and also patient while the Mrs decides which of the toppings she would like on her burger. The place it self is nice and simple inside you have the till area with the grill behind where you can see your burgers being made, plenty of seating, a toilet to use and Two coca cola machines for your unlimited soft drinks (though the left one isn't always working properly) it is a nice spot to chill from the shopping and eat. I have only two criticisms, one I think the drinks are a little expensive, £3.25 for all you can drink which I know is all you can drink and there are loads of variations of pop to choose from but after eating the lovely food how many drinks can you have to make the price worth it (There is no obligation to buy a drink). My other which has happened a a few times and usually when I've gone home to eat is buying the bacon cheese burger to get home and find no bacon! I love my bacon (I understand mistakes happen but its happened 3/4 times). So if taking your burgers home, check its all there before you leave. But other than those little things I love this place and will be...
Read moreLove a good Five Guys, and have been to a fair few, and after some shopping, decided to pop in for some tea a few weeks ago. It was very quiet despite it being busy in the shopping centre and it being tea time, and now I see why.
Our cashier was super friendly and patient and smiley. Couldn't sing her praises more in regards to service.
The food was slacking severely though. Both drinks machines weren't right and the drinks were flat - no matter the drinks selection chosen.
There were no sauce dispensers but there were sachets - which are impossible to open, especially with having greasy chip/burger fingers. We got so frustrated, my boyfriend went to ask a member of staff for some mayo in a cajun spice container, where a member of staff leisurely dragged her feet around the dressing table to get us some mayo.
The burgers were cold. Took much longer than it should have to get our food, ESPECIALLY as it was so quiet. Genuinely took over 8 minutes to get 2 burgers when there was literally 1 other person waiting and probably about 4 tables occupied with people eating already.
Chips...I can't tell if they were under or over cooked - but they weren't crispy on the outside and the centre was mushy and they were too pale. I think they were undercooked but my boyfriend thinks overcooked. Overall, a poor experience apart from the till...
Read moreWe have been meaning to give this place a try for a while now but we are absolute lovers of Nibble@ the Dock in Hull and a fairly close second is Urban Burger so Five Guys were going to have to be pretty impressive to beat either of them and unfortunately it didn't rate anywhere near. It was quite empty when we visited on a Thursday dinner time so got served straight away but it seemed a quite a long wait for our food considering there were only 4 other people dining at the time. I ordered a small cheeseburger all the way, my hubby had the regular and we got a small portion of salted fries to share. The bun was just a bog standard sesame one, nothing special and the burger was quite dry and chewy, onions not cooked enough, and even though I'd opted for mine to have all the toppings I didn't have any mushrooms on mine, as for the fries they were very dry, limp and with no flavour whatsoever, and despite washing our hands several times throughout the day the smell of cheap burger lingered on them, quite ironic given that it cost nearly £19 for what we had. Overall I would say based on our experience Five Guys is overcooked, overpriced and underwhelming. Plus side the staff working there were lovely so they have that going for them, but we won't...
