Myself and my partner, went into House of Koko, as she was a fan from the other café in Chapel Allerton. Unfortunately, there were a few issues with the service that we received. Firstly, the menu did not specifically identity all vegan based products. Upon asking, we were informed that they had printed the menu three times, but they did not want to do them again. Secondly, from the menu, my partner ordered the pancakes with berry compote & bananas, as far as we can remember, these were not priced differently on the menu and were included within the price of the pancakes. Lastly, when coming to pay, we approached the bar to pay and the receipt was popped on the side and the card reader was presented straight away backwards, so I could not see the price nor check the receipt. To note, this was not done in malice, it was just how the server dealt with the payment of the goods we had. It was not until I paid and checked the receipt, that they had charged a service fee, which I think should always be made clear before payment, as we would have gladly given a tip and removed the service fee. Service fees should not be automatically added without the permission of the customer; we were not made aware of this by the server. Including the “optional service” charge, makes it very awkward for those customers who are neuro-diverse, as we do not want to question it. So, even if we had realised before paying, we would have still felt like we had to pay it per se. Additionally, we were charged for the compote and the banana, which to our knowledge, as mentioned earlier, was not priced separately on the menu that we read. Thus, we felt the overall cost of having two coffee's, one breakfast and a side was expensive. Despite the food and coffee being delicious, the presentation of the food being brilliant, the vibe being calm & relaxed; the situation with the payment left an unpleasantness in the overall experience. Therefore, the review has been subsequently lowered based on the whole experience.
Edited: The review and rating (customer service and overall rating) has subsequently been edited, due to the response from 'The House of Koko'. As they have completely ignored the issue with the payment and their use of a service charge. They state it is optional, and that it can be removed. However, not once, was it mentioned before the payment. Additionally, they have done nothing to rectify it. I do not appreciate shielding the price from the card reader, accidental or not. Their response and customer service has unfortunately been lacking to resolve...
Read moreIt was a really busy Sunday afternoon & we had promised my nephew a stack of pancakes for his birthday! The chapel allerton branch was jam packed with people already waiting outside, so we phoned this one to ask if they by any chance could squeeze 7 in. They were really busy & advised we could come & wait. So we were deliberating options as a family when they called us right back & offered a table for 7 if we come now! We were a 10 min drive away, set off immediately & good enough there was our table when we arrived. All had an amazing lunch, especially my nephew who had all of the pancake toppings I think! We are a mixed bunch of vegans and non, all were catered for with the stack of pancakes also being vegan! Staff were lovely, food was amazing! Would definitely recommend & go again. Oh & the decaf coffee was yummy too!! Everyone was really...

The bill is at the higher end, £15-20 for brunch, but worth every penny
The food here is second to none, with excellent quality ingredients, and everything that we are front pancakes with biscoff and home made fruit compote to Eggs Benedict with streaky bacon and Chai Latte on another level.
possibly the best Hash browns I've ever had and all the food 95+/100. The service is fantastic too, with a super friendly laid back atmosphere, very comfortable seating, I'm a big tall lad.
Worth a 30 min drive for breakfast, I would be exceptionally surprised if you were disappointed.
It's dog friendly, with thoughtful owners. I'm not a dog owner, and my partner is scared of big dogs, but none here. Outside...
