Sambuca Armley — Restaurant in Leeds

Decided to have my baby shower here as I've heard really good feedback from family & friends. Too say I'm disappointed is The understatement off the year. I paid 50 pound deposit when I booked my table and got a receipt. Then A few days before I was due to go on the 1st April they rang and asked if I still required the table I said yes then they asked if I could go and pay A deposit I had to tell them I already have paid it and they said that's fine see you on the day. I turned up on the day really looking forward to it to be really let down. They asked if I had paid A deposit and I told them again I've already paid so they gave me my deposit back but then they asked me if I had the receipt to which I couldn't find as they didn't tell me.to fetch or that I would need it again. So I ran to car and looked for it couldn't find it and had to then go back and tell them I couldn't find it one staff member said it was OK they would find it in their book not to worry. Then A oldish man came over and very rudely interrupted our conversation and asked what the problem was so the lady told him he then said well sorry no receipt u will have to give us the 50 pound deposit back. To which I then started crying as that was my money for my night there. This soon got resolved as my friend was a witness when I payed it. But then the staff members were really rude told us to go up get our own drinks was constantly rushing us. They was rude when we were leaving and rushed our meals and one guy even shouted at one of out party when they seed them to get the cake box. It's A shame The food was lovely I'd loose the dragon of A waiter as he has upset the full 20 odd people who attended the baby shower. Forgot to ask some of us about our meals. Some staff were happy to help but not many.

I'd not book this place for anything...

We’ve never had such a bad experience dining at a restaurant before. Where to even start... The decor and furniture was very dated, the chairs were uncomfortable, the tables were dented and looked very old and neglected, the wallpaper seemed very cheap and tacky. There were however some nice murals which I gave the one star for. Before booking a table, I specifically called to ask if they serve vegan options, to which the answer was yes. When ordering, the waiter rudely interrupted me to convince us to get the 3 course meals which were obviously more expensive. I politely declined and then proceeded to ask if any of the dishes we wanted to order had cheese in them. The waiter looked puzzled as to why we wouldn’t want cheese and started questioning us on the reasons. The food arrived quickly. It was OK, not awful but definitely worse than other Italian restaurants we went to. The bruschetta was soggy and the tomatoes on it tasted like nothing. The pasta was overcooked and had a plain taste. Now getting to the worst part of the experience - this place was the noisiest place I’ve ever been to (excluding concerts). It was SO noisy we couldn’t have a conversation without shouting, I couldn’t hear the waiter at all and he couldn’t hear me. This was mainly because of a table of 5-6 women who were howling and shouting. They were visibly very drunk and upsetting the other guests, yet the staff did nothing. I wouldn’t return here...

We as party of 14 /16 have been here before and it was great tonight they was not enough staff to cope with us and maybe a 4/6 other customers god knows how they cope if its a full resturant starters came out okay. Mine was garlic mushrooms not many to be honest a small piece of cheesy bread although it was nice not enough and I'm not a big eater. The main courses came out bit by bit sides was very late coming out I cannot speak for the others but the 4 of us sat together ordered 2 x rosemary potatoes one lot came out half way through the meal the second lot we had nearly finished our meal I wanted to send them back but due to the meal being very small my partner was still hungry?. Pudding well that was hit and miss I asked for my fudge cake to be hot came out tepid he took it back took a while to come back out it only takes seconds in the microwave? Staff lovely but the food was hit and miss the chef / cook cannot cope with a few customers i sudjest you get him/ her help. Last time we came here there was music on which made for a better atmosphere we were there as a leaving do for friends going back to Australia but it was boring. And you need draft beer or a more selection of...
