Highly recommend this restaurant. We held my Mum's 60th here in August, everything was fantastic. Booking via phone was easy, very accommodating for a group of 14 and two high chairs, only a credit card needed to secure the booking. We had a choice of a set menu or a la carte, no ordering in advance or requirement to all eat from the same menu. Very flexible. It's rare to find a restaurant nowadays where you feel completely satisifed with everything but The Whitehall exceeded my expectations! The scallops to start were 10/10...cooked to perfection in a beautiful sauce, I could eat them every day. The pork duo main was delicious, cooked perfectly and well seasoned, good portion size with enough room for dessert. Every single person in our party said their food was fantastic. The menu has so much choice, it really was difficult to choose. The staff were all so attentive, friendly and helpful, they helped decorate the table, topped our glasses up without leaving us waiting and really couldn't have done any more for us. The wine waiter had some good suggestions too. This restaurant is perfect for a group, it's open and modern so can be noisy but it was unpretentious and classy. I wish we lived in Leeds, we would visit all the time. We had a really enjoyable experience and felt it was very reasonably priced. A must...
Read moreFirst visit to this large restaurant on Whitehall Road; at the foot of that tower that’s had so many problems with the cladding. Now scaffolding free, it made me notice this place afresh.
Inside the restaurant is bright and airy, white walls and marble floors. There’s a nice vibe in here of an evening. Chill yet traditional. You sense the meal will be good.
Nice big menu with lots of choice. Pizza, pasta and steak. Also fish. Opted for the venison wellington; I love venison and it sounded like a dish that would be rich and hearty.
Not wrong, a beautiful (and big) portion of perfectly pink venison in a light and flaky crust. Wow, could eat that all day. So very rich with a hearty sauce, turnip to the side. I wish more places would use game.
The chef here clearly knows his meat. Excellent. The steak must be fantastic. Reasonably priced as well.
The beer was Moretti; as it should be when it isn’t Peroni.
Definitely recommend giving this place a try next time you’re in town. They do specials too, so a chance at finding something unexpected and intriguing on the menu. Always welcome.

Read moreFirst time here and very impressed. The food quality was fantastic and super fresh. I had the Padron peppers to start followed by the best chicken caesar salad I’ve had in a long time. My mum had french onion soup followed by the burger (good quality beef with hand-cut fries, not the frozen rubbish you’d find in your local chain pub. Really makes the difference!) then Crème brule with a homemade shortbread. We had late lunch menu 12pm-5pm 2 courses £19.95 & 3 courses £25.95 which was great value with a range of options. The atmosphere was a little loud for my liking (I have autism and sat right in the centre of the restaurant close to a table of loud men who had clearly been to the football match so was noisy for me. Not the restaurants fault though & expected on a Saturday so will request a table out the way next time). The service blew me away though. The most attentive and helpful staff who took our coats and bags on arrival and really on the ball making sure each table was satisfied and had everything they needed. Your hard work does not go unnoticed and we will be...
