A couple days prior to my incident, my girlfriend got assaulted in the walkabout queue. she was alone and she had already spoken to one of the bouncers (Ahz) and he had made her feel unsafe already so when this happened she just left as she did not feel comfortable speaking to him about her situation. I went back on monday after a work do with my girlfriend and we got refused entry, we hadn’t had that much to drink but had no problem not going into walkabout but as it was the same bouncer on the door as the day my girlfriend got assaulted she got upset because of the way he made her feel. I tried to speak to the bouncers and inform them about what my girlfriend had experienced just so they knew and could be aware of incidents that happen in the queue where there are no bouncers, and they wouldn’t even give me the time of day, out of all three on the door (one said he was the bouncer manager) not a single one made eye contact with me, they ignored me and couldn’t have cared less as to what had happened in the queue under their supervision. I wasn’t expecting them to do anything I just wanted to tell them so they could be more aware. I then got upset because i understood how unsafe my girlfriend must have felt because the people on the door who are supposed to protect and look after people who chose to go to walkabout had such little regard for her experience and safety. I’ve heard some really concerning stories about the walkabout bouncers and they really lived up to that expectation. Me and my girlfriend (both girls) only hope they hire some bouncers with compassion because walkabout feels like an unsafe environment.
