Y The Yemeni Coffee Co — Restaurant in Lewes

Nice sunny morning, walked to polling station cast my vote (UK General Election) stopped first time in Yemeni Coffee co. Located on side of A259 at start of Peacehaven shops. We ordered inside 2 coffees - flat white and a cappuccino only one size - no small, medium or large! no cake although they had a nice selection on show. Very pleasant welcome by server. A sign stating they prefer cash was adjacent pay terminal, contactless, no problem. A plastic sign with number on it was given to us, Numbered tables might work better! I indicated where we would be sitting. We sat outside in the fenced off grassed area at rear, it has 7 bench picnic tables, 6 easy access and 1 awkward leg over style - they all could do with a coat of varnish to enhance appearance (my opinion) very functional as they are. Small gripe: as outdoor seating - maybe have ash trays. A small paper cup half filled with water was provided on request. It took 12 mins for our coffees to be delivered!! Unsure which was which - both nicely top decorated. Coffee was fine, service was slow!! - The grassed area needs some work to make it more appealing. Bowl of water there for animals. Price average. I’m only commenting on outdoor seating at rear. Additional aluminium tables and chairs available at entrance. Toilets inside for customers. I would give it another...

All good things come to end. After a few good years of using this Cafe, it has eventually succumbed to complacency and lack of attention to detail. Bumper breakfast was a main stay, even excellent by delivery. Today I asked for eggs over-easy, crispy bacon and a well done sausage. The breakfast turns up after two sips of our coffee (like 3 minutes) bad sign.

Eggs like bullets, you could have played hockey with them, half cooked anaemic sausage, fatty non-crispy bacon and raw tomato.

Sent back and 1 minute later received two raw eggs. This chef is going to make someone very ill. Third time lucky, two over easy eggs arrive swimming in oil.

Was refused a chat with the Chef, so went outside and caught him smoking on the phone, he ran back In the kitchen when he saw me coming.

£30+ wasted and came out feeling sick.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND !! I had a meal here with my partner after Christmas. We paid 1£ for extra bacon and was served 1 extra slice ! It is a rip off. We asked for avocado toast, and receives 2 slices of cold bread with the smallest sliver of butter only on one slice and half an avocado cubed in the middle. We also ordered a sausage panini, and it was literally one sausage in dry panini bread, not what we were expecting at all. Absolutely no effort went in to our meal. The owner was extremely rude to the waitress there at the time, removing things from her hand and taking over when she was talking to customers. It was very uncomfortable to watch. Also the place is disgustingly dirty ! Mold on the window sill and our knives and forks were scruffy. ABSOLUTELY DO...
