Didn't enjoy my experience here at all. It's worth noting that I visited fairly late on a Friday evening, around 9:30pm (closing time 10:30pm) - maybe that had an impact on my experience. The restaurant was quiet. Less than 20 people inside. Lots of servers and staff. We were the last in. As soon as we sat down, we got asked for drinks. I asked for a couple more minutes to look at the menu. Within a minute, two other servers approached us and asked the same question. I found this to be unprofessional. Considering it's a "meat" restaurant you'd assume the meat was going to be of decent quality, but it wasn't. The steak pieces were tiny and tasted like they had been cooked a while ago and heated up - it was way overdone, cold, chewy, and full of gristle. That was the same for pretty much all the meat on offer. The only enjoyable portion of meat was the chicken skewers. Everything else was tough, overdone, bland, and just not up to any kind of standard. I was not impressed at all. The staff clearly wanted to leave and were tidying up around us, which made us feel rushed. One staff member was brushing the floor right next to me while I was eating and her brush touched my shoe. Then my friends plate was taken away while I was still eating. I get it, staff want to leave. But I'm a paying customer and myself and other customers are finishing our meals. That shouldn't be happening. The food was bad. The service was bad. There's a 10% service charge added to the bill. I found it to be expensive for what it was so poor value for money. I would not recommend this place and I will not be going back.

Me and my husband had a lovely lunch today at Smoke & Dough. The first thing we were really impressed with was the lovely, friendly service from Izzy. She was very polite and helpful throughout the whole experience. Service with a smile really makes a big difference. The bread and houmous was lovely! We really liked the onion focaccia and the seeded bread was lovely too. We got the set menu and the meat platter that came out was just awesome! Raj was really lovely who served the platter and made us feel very welcome. The table has a special warmer in it for the hot plate which keeps the food warm and stops it going cold while you’re eating which is a bonus for my husband in particular as he eats quite slow and the food stayed piping. My husbands favourite meat was the minted lamb which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. My favourite was the steak which was a really good size and the chicken skewers which were lovely and tender. It was also a nice surprise that the cocktails were 2-4-1 and the Smoke & Dough Bramble was my personal favourite and they certainly are not shy with the alcohol!! Very generous with this and their food portions. Near to the end of the meal, Emily came over to check everything was okay with our meal which Izzy had also asked earlier which was really thoughtful and also asked if we needed anything. I would definitely be back again!! On a sunny day I’d love to sit outside and have a few cocktails so I’ll be back again but on a rainy day like today the atmosphere and decor inside is gorgeous and I’ll definitely be a regular! Thanks again and see you soon I’m sure!

An honest take from a home bbq and meat smoker . . . My son suggested Smoke&Dough for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Never been before but we have eaten in most places in Liverpool over 20 years (for comparison) . . . The menu outside was interesting. We decided to get the evening grill with chips and salad. The service from start to finish was 10 out of 10! Brilliant 👍🏼 We had a selection of breads and dips to start. All very nice indeed 👍🏼 The evening grill was brought to our table within minutes! Surprisingly quick! 10/10 for presentation. A breakdown of what was on it and our quick thoughts . . . 1 x slither of brisket - very nice albeit a stingey amount! 1 x piece of sausage - very nice! 1 x Chicken skewer - three chunks of chicken on the skewer. Very nicely cooked and juicy! A Chargrilled Sirloin steak - A small-ish terrible piece of fatty sinewy steak. Horrible 👎🏼 A Louisiana Chicken wing - Okay. The only thing Louisiana about it (for us) was it's description! A minted lamb chop - two bites of lamb on the bone. Tasty but small. Pork Baby rib - Again okay! Tasted nice but a baby rib it was! Did we enjoy our overall food? Not really. We felt it wasn't cooked well at all. It almost felt rushed and the smoke aspect did taste like liquid smoke and a bit artificial - just my take of course 🤷🏻‍♂️ Will we visit again? Sadly not. Rating - 4/10. All looks and little depth.

Bottomless BBQ ( Not quiet!!! )

My family recently visited Liverpool on the weekend. We found smoke and dough and decided to give it a try as it looked really busy and a customer recommended it to us as they left.

My wife opted for the vegetarian option, which she really enjoyed especially the halloumi. However I opted for the endless meat BBQ and was somewhat disappointed with the choice. The meat portions were tiny, and at least 3 were on the bone, which made them smaller still. The brisket was advertised first on the menu, but was not present at all. I still paid full price for it but received less than was promised, with no option to have a substitute in its place, it simply was not mentioned by the waitress staff.

The waitress staff were attentive when you had the food on the table but were missing in action when you were wanting the bottomless top up. When I finally got someone to order a top up, it never arrived. However when I ordered fries, which I paid extra for they arrived quickly, but still no free top up! This has been already mentioned in someone else’s review.

When I did finally get a top up I asked for another chicken kebab, ( which was lovely ) it only had 2 pieces on it! Again this was also mentioned in someone else’s review.

I can’t help but feel this is probably a sales technique here, to avoid people wanting a top up in the hope they will get tired of waiting, or force them into filling up on paid for sides.

The atmosphere was good and staff were polite when you could catch them. When it comes to the meat BBQ I think a better alternative to the many bone options could be a good quality burger, or gammon steak would be a great option.

Would I recommend this restaurant. Sadly it would have to be NO I would not recommend it. I’d suggest going to other restaurants on the same row. There is...

Never been so disappointed with this place before. Me and my partner like to come here for a nice meal when we visit Liverpool however after tonight's experience I don't think we will be returning! On arrival we waited at the front greet desk to be seated, the male that came to greet us didn't say a word, not even hello. He picked up 2 menus and gave a little nod to follow him, he tossed the paper menus on the table and walked away. The minute we sat down a lady came and asked for our order (yet we hadn't had chance to look at the sides to have with the main) eventually we ordered, two tables that ordered after us received there food sizzling and steaming, when ours arrived the gent that placed it in the centre of the table smelt like he had just rolled around in an ashtray and our skillet was cold. The meat was full of grit and fat, the beef patties looked like pieces of birdseye charcoal, there's more meat on a baby's toe than the ribs, the steak don't even get me started... I felt like I was eating a half smoked fag, it didn't taste fresh and tasted like the waiter that served it had used it to put his cig out. We wasn't offered any condiments, the table next to us let us use there salt for the gent that didn't speak to us at the start to get a condiment pot a chuck it on our table. All the tables around us was asked if everything was okay and offered extra meat but we wasn't, we get to towards the end of our visit and asked for the bill for the younge lady to stand staring at the till screen for approximately 10 minutes then disappeared... when we received the bill they had added on the optional 10% service charge, unfortunately for the first ever time we had to ask for this...

Don't let the name Smoke and Dough fool you into thinking any of the meats are smoked - they're not, and that was a big letdown for me and my boyfriend who both like smoked meats.

We went with the intention to get the bottomless grill - if the food was good. Thankfully, we weren't locked into paying the higher price until finishing our first, and only, round of meat.

The service was good and the restaurant had a good atmosphere. The bread and houmous starter was nothing special, but it wasn't offensive.

Unfortunately, the meats let this place down. They came out on a hot grill and looked the part, but looks doesn't fix the flavour and texture of food.

The three passable things were the lamb chops, lamb burger, and chicken leg. The skewered chicken was dry but somewhat ok. The ribs had a baked flavour and texture. The sauce was ok.

The worse meats were the steak and brisket. The steak was tough and not how steak should be done. It was a cheap cut, so I wasn't expecting a marvellous experience, but whoever is in charge of prepping and cooking the steaks needs to step up their game. A good steak shouldn't mean chewing for 5 minutes every time you take a bite. The brisket was an insult. Thin cut, half was the cut was fat, and there was next to no beef flavour. And not smoked. I'm glad we were only given one thin slice each because it was that disappointing.

We had a side order of chips for extra cost. They were ok. Skin on but no seasoning.

Price wise, the fixed price meal was alright. For almost £18 we weren't full, but we didn't want anymore.

For anyone who cares about smoked meats, or just meats cooked properly, please avoid. You'll probably be just as...
