Absolutely Awful – Completely Ruined a Special Day (-10/10)
I don’t even know where to begin. I booked TGI Fridays hoping for a smooth, celebratory meal for my soon-to-be sister-in-law for her HEN, a day I worked so hard to make special for her. Instead, the whole experience was a disorganised, chaotic mess that caused more stress than anything else. We were a party of 15 and were just plonked in the middle of the restaurant, with a partition awkwardly cutting some guests off at the end of the table. The table wasn't even properly set up when we arrived we were missing a chair and had to wait while one was found. The seats were filthy, and only after asking did a member of staff come over to wipe them down. As for the food? A disaster. Everything came out in dribs and drabs, with servers who looked unsure of what they were doing. No communication, no organisation. My aunty has dietary requirements and clearly asked for no mayo on her burger. When we checked with the server, they gave a vague “umm yes” and left the burger it did have mayo. Only after she started eating it did she realise. Unacceptable and actually dangerous. There was a random chip in the sauce of my cousin’s chicken bites not even her meal. A steak was sent back because it was completely wrong. Drinks took forever my cousin, who only ordered a bottle of water, got hers last, even after others received cocktails. We had to ask repeatedly where the drinks were, and honestly, the whole thing was just exhausting. This wasn’t just a casual dinner it was meant to be a meaningful occasion. Instead, it left me frustrated, embarrassed, and genuinely upset that this was how my sister-in-law’s special day turned out. I would never eat here again. If you’re planning a celebration, especially with a large group, do yourself a favour and go anywhere...
Read moreWe visited the Liverpool 1 restaurant on 26/3/22 and we were very disappointed. We were shown to our table by a waitress who quite clearly didn't want to be there. We ordered our drinks, no up selling re cocktails and waited. Our drinks arrived, minus the diet Coke. When we pointed out we were a drink short we were met with a grunt. We ordered 2 x hot chicken wings and 1 mozzarella dippers for starters . The starters arrived and it was clear that the chicken wings had been sat under warming lights for too long as the chilli's and celery had started to dry out. One portion never had any hot sauce at all. There was a disgusting film on the blue cheese dip which was now warm. They were very mediocre. However my son did say the mozzarella sticks were the best he'd ever had so that was at least one positive! Hurrah I was then finally up sold a large magarita using hand signals to the barman! Our burgers then arrived. It started well untill we got to the middle of our burgers which were still raw, I couldn't eat mine. The sweet potatoe fries were really good though! My son then ordered the doughnuts with CHOCOLATE sauce. As the waitress thought she could remember it and not feel the need to write it down, I wasn't shocked to see them come with strawberry sauce instead. By this point we'd had enough. We asked for the bill. Whilst waiting for the bill I then watched the waitress tip the rubbish out of the condiment tray straight onto the floor next to where a couple were eating, and leave it on the floor! I booked here as I have eaten at many TGI Fridays across the country and we have never been disappointed. It really put a dampener on what had been a good weekend up to that point. I will definitely re think using this...
Read moreWhole family (family of 3) visited Liverpool today and got excited to eat Fridays. We always have great experience with TGIF when we were living in Dubai and we want to reminisce the food and the experience again.
We missed eating steak, unfortunately, TGIF UK only has NY strip to offer so we ordered 2. The server asked how we like the steak cooked, so we had it medium well.
Food came and tasted a slice of it, it was tough. So I had another slice, checked the color and doneness—- it was dry, tough and cooked over well done. I checked the other steak and it was both same. I informed the server about the steak and he rushed to the kitchen. When he returned, he told us that his manager informed him that even if they cooked a new one, it would end up the same due to it being cooked in the grill. My head translates it to “theres nothing we can do about it but to bear the consequences of ordering the steak and man up”.
As a customer with high expectations from an international food company with reputation, my local pub has better customer service and attends to my needs carefully, and Alas, the pub’s steak was cooked more beautifully and much more tasteful.
I was disappointed. We finished the steak and was not happy paying our £70+ bill. I feel forced to eat the food I ordered because “theres nothing they can do about it” and I cannot waste food and money.
I should have listened to my son and have eaten in mcdonalds for 75% less of a price and have the right expectations for food.
I am hoping for that the regional manager (chris snowdon) for TGIF will read this. I will email him shortly.
Edited: thanks Ellie for responding. We had the bill of £72.70 and we checked...
