There's something slightly depressing about this store now and hope M&S can get their mojo back. I seemed to be the youngest person in the store which is a shame because their clothes are still of good quality and a good selection. So why did I shop there? Well I needed a somewhat boring white shirt that was going to last. M&S sprang to mind but it's a back handed compliment.
The staff touch points are now reduced to the till as there are very few staff on the floor. As a result they really have to make the effort to provide a point of difference. I was served promptly and efficiently but it was no more than that. No smile, no thank you, but pleasant enough.
The menswear section is dark. Halogen spot lights and dark wood all lead to an oppressive feel that makes you not to want to linger. There's little in the way of displays or suggestions of outfits which is how a store can significantly upsell items when compared to online shopping. Yet even online shopping has the usual "you may also like these" type of suggestions, so why this store only has a rather bereft manaquin in a pair of shorts, is beyond me.
So 4 stars for quality and choice. I really wanted to give 3, but I still love this store and it deserves to do well.
The choice is good and the different lines are on trend so it's certainly worth an explore, especially as it's so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBefore I start my updated review, I must state that I have always been a faithful shopper of M and S. After visiting its new location at Liverpool One, I must say I preferred its old location on Church Street, more spacious, and better choice of items. It comes across with the move to Liverpool One, that M and S don't value their customers as much as they would have them believe. The trend now is towards online shopping ( which I have nothing against) but not everybody wants to shop that way, some people prefer to see what there buying before making a purchase. Its all about making money with as little inconvenience to the stores as possible. This shows in the cafe they have now, way to small, customers probably loved the old store because the cafe was lovely and spacious, and a nice place to relax in. The most annoying aspect of the new location is the lack of toilet facilities. God help older customers with bladder issues who may need the toilet and may not want to run around trying to find one. Also pregnant women or people with disabilities. (Shame on M and S for not considering this) My closing sentence they need to rethink...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible experience shopping at the food hall. Managers have an awful attitude, not just rude, but also insulting.
Granted, the product I wanted to buy today was miss priced, but the product matched the ticket and that's the price I was willing to pay, not double the price.
Rather than admit the pricing mistake, which is actually understanding given how busy the store can get, I was completely embarrassed at the check out with a long queue behind me. What irks me most is the Manager today presented a similar, but evidently different ticket, and in an effort to deny logic, the English language, and my intelligence, attempted to present an argument why I should pay the higher price. I am very grateful for the patience of the many customers waiting me at the checkout.
Regards, beer-less and astounded, an old (as in previous not by age) M&S customer for now. P.S., please check the barcode matches the description of the products you buy. As you can see for the attached barcode, it doesn't correspond to "American", if you see "American" in the description get your eyes tested, or at least consider taking a road trip to...
