I called in at The Big Sandwich Club in Toxteth, Liverpool and ordered the “CLASSIC” Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. Yes it was good but it wasn't the Real Philly Cheese Steak I craved. A Philly Cheese steak is thin sliced ribeye steak cooked on a griddle and chopped. No sauce and mixed with cooked onion and maybe peppers then has a good quality cheese added. Simples. What I got was more like a sloppy Joe. It was the texture of ground(minced) beef in a slightly spicy BBQ sauce. It wasn't freshly cooked and chopped on a grill as a Philly Cheese Steak is. Granted I did find evidence of some chopped steak in the sandwich but most of it was sloppy Joe consistency, pre made and reheated in a fast oven/grill like they do at Subway. The Cheese was America burger style cheese. I debate that this deserves to be called a Philly Cheese Steak nevertheless a Classic I've been left disappointed to not get the Classic Philly Cheese Steak I was hoping for. I'd have been happy if I'd ordered a sloppy Joe. And they do good scran. I...
Read moreHonestly I don’t understand why this place isn’t more popular. Me and my partner have ordered from here 4 times, and every time what arrived was literally the perfect sandwich. The deli sandwich uses nicely funky cured deli meats, the balsamic glaze is delightful, and the cheese in the middle is JUST sharp enough to cut through the richness. My favourite, the spitroast chicken, is reliably too big to finish. It is immensely rich and savoury, and the smoky bacon jam is utterly delightful. Frankly if they sold pots of that bacon jam, I’d buy it. The roast beef sandwich is everything you’d want in an ideal french sandwich. Do yourself a favour and order it with the gravy, it’s an absolute delight. The food arrives fast, in perfect condition, and is reliably cheaper than a miserable subway sandwich. If you’re within delivery range, and you want a sandwich, there’s no reason to...
Read moreI would I taken a picture of the food but couldn’t stop eating it 🫣. This was my first time coming to the big sandwich club and it without a doubt won’t be the last. I got a kamikaze for myself and omg it was amazing. I also got the spitroast chicken club for my wife (the bacon jam is unreal, just wish it had more on 😂!!). Both sandwiches were amazing and could easily be eaten over 2 meals the amount of filling on them is impressive.
The lady who served me was lovely and very helpful in talking the through what to get. I had not pre-ordered so walked and and placed my order and it was about a 10min wait. Well worth the wait I might add.
Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes flavourful filled to the brim...
