Wherever we go on our world travels we love to sample and enjoy the local culture and its food, this is no different when we take short trips within the UK, and on our most recent short trip to Liverpool we had to sample the fantastic choice of places to eat, and we have found a new favourite in The Real Greek in Hanover Street, during our short stay. we visited three times, initially for a light lunch, which was so good we decided to return again later, twice, and both times sharing a Meat Platter for two, with a side of octopus, it was absolutely stunning, sensationally tasty and delicious, the best we have tasted anywhere outside Greece. In between gorging ourselves, the table service by Vlad was excellent, attentive but not intrusive, and always with a smile, bringing us Rose, Mythos and coffee to accompany meal, just lovely and a satisfying experience all round and also definitely value for money too, in a very nice relaxed atmosphere, that you just can’t beat that 🤌🏻

I’m confused by all the 5 star reviews. What we ordered food wise was ok. My daughter said there was something lacking in her Souvlaki and she realised towards the end, there was no tzatziki n it. £4.50 for the tiniest bowl of mass produced fried and £9.00 each for both chicken and halloumi wraps, I thought for quantity, it was very expensive. The menu suggested to order a few hot and cold mezzes at around £6 each and the portions were tiny. Like another reviewer had said, please go to a family run Greek restaurant. You will get more of an authentic meal, better portions and overall a smaller bill at the end. Our food sat on the hot plate for several minutes and they add a 10% service charge. There were only 2 of us! I think you should be able to choose what to tip, depending on the service you’ve had from the waiting staff. So for 2 coca colas, one small portion of fried and 2 small souvlaki’s our bill totalled £31.33 which I think is pretty poor. We won’t be returning.

Initially seemed nice enough and we were excited to have some greek food in a decent looking restaurant. The environment was welcoming and the staff seemed friendly. We were seated uncomfortably close to another table when there were many tables available. Initially we ordered flat bread and meze but were recommended to get the dips as well, which we did. The food was average (the vine leaves were good) and we definitely didn't need the dips as well, it was far too much food. When we requested the rest of the food to be packed up, takeaway boxes were brought to the table as opposed to the food being taken away and packed away for us. Whilst I'm going to take what I've paid for if there's a lot left, it's embarrassing to have to pack it away ourselves. Considering we were pressured into adding the service charge, this should be part of the service. As a Scouser, I tend to tip depending on the service I've received. However, the UK has minimum and living wage, therefore, gratuity isn't necessary. We don't tip care workers on the same wage. Given that we had to pack our own food, I wouldn't have tipped the amount suggested. I'm glad we opted to pack up what we didn't eat as the overall bill was £70. It wasn't worth it. We had a similar meal for 3 people, with more drinks, at a different restaurant where the food was of a much higher standard and the bill was £80. We were disappointed overall. The food was worth around £50, with 1 drink each and the fact we had to pack our own food was completely off putting. There were takeaway boxes and the option to dine out, so the restaurant do pack food, it's not an odd request. Kinda put a cloud over...

We visited on monday evening as a party of three and were seated quickly by the host. Once our drinks arrived, a hair was found in a margarita which the server claimed to not be able to see despite a member of the party pulling it out. These things do happen so we tried not to let it reflect on the rest of the meal. The food arrived promptly and warm but for the price wasn’t worth the money. The feta parcels were so deep fried the cheese had pretty much dissolved away and the filo had congealed to one block of pastry. Overall the souvlaki we also ordered were okay, but didn’t blow us away. It’s also important to note when we ordered dips (tzatziki/spiced feta) this does not come with bread but can be bought for and additional £4 (£12 total for something alot of Greek restaurants offer for free) which was disappointing. After our meal our plates were taken away and when we were offered deserts we declined. Despite all our dishes and drinks being taken away and our coats being on, we were not offered the bill until around 35 minutes later after asking another server. Our original server Calvin came to take the payment but seemed annoyed by this and this made us feel quite uncomfortable, and despite considering asking for the service charge (£7.50) to be removed, his attitude made us feel like it wouldn’t have been taken well. All of our party work in the hospitality industry so understand how we can all have off days, but the whole dining experience was quite...

My partner, a friend, and I ate here at lunch time today. It's busy enough that there's a queue for tables even at 12 pm (which I believe is their current opening time, or at least the earliest you can book a table for). However, I booked in advance, so we were able to skip the queue.

I left a note that we wanted a quiet area due to two of us being neurodivergent and, while the note wasn't seen until after we were seated, a waiter approached me to apologise for the oversight and ask if we wanted a different table.

Luckily, they'd already given us the opportunity to choose a table and we'd found a really comfortable one. Moreover, the music isn't as loud as it is in most restaurants, and there's a reasonable number of tables relative to the space, which means pretty much any part of the restaurant would have felt quiet and comfortable anyway. Big props for this.

Our waiter, Vasilis, was helpful and incredibly funny. He gave us a great time.

I tried a chicken skewer, the pourgouri, and the caramel and pecan cheesecake, and found everything to be really tasty. The portions seemed small, but the food was filling.

I'm definitely going back and I highly recommend the...
