ORIGINAL REVIEW

Very disappointing experience calling Allpress today about two missing orders (one placed 4 days ago, one placed 2 days ago - both should have been delivered next day).

Response was "we've dispatched them to Royal Mail, there's a backlog due to covid, now anything more that we can do".

I asked what they would do to make up for this inconvenience (giving an opportunity to turn around an unhappy customer) and despite being charged for shipping and a history of orders with Allpress which allowed them to offer a refund of shipping or a voucher - no attempt was made to make up for this.

Blaming Royal Mail for failing to deliver after 4 days isn't good enough - I receive orders from Amazon next day and other ecommerce retailers seem to be able to do the same.

Consumers want to support small businesses - I order direct from Allpress rather than picking up beans elsewhere (eg. Amazon) as I thought the business is appreciated. I've spent £116 so far with Allpress - not a big customer but one who had a fortnightly subscription and was an opportunity to grow.

Things go wrong - but it's easy to put it right, just show some willing.

UPDATED REVIEW

UPDATE - I heard back from Alice Williams at Allpress shortly after posting this review and it's clear that the individual I spoke to wasn't usually dealing with ecommerce issues and was unaware of their policy due to different people now working in different areas of the business due to lokdown. This makes total sense and I was overly harsh in my original review. I have since placed more orders with Allpress and have had no issues since - this was clearly an isolated case in exceptionally difficult...

Charming coffee spot offers a delightful retreat for caffeine lovers. With its inviting outdoor seating area, it beckons patrons to unwind and savor their brew amidst a backdrop of fresh air.

The outdoor seating is undoubtedly the highlight of this establishment. Tucked away from the traffic of the streets, it provides a serene oasis for those seeking a moment of tranquility. Whether you're catching up with friends or diving into a good book, the comfortable chairs and wooden tables set against a backdrop of potted plants create an ambiance that is both cozy and refreshing.

Of course, the star of the show here is the coffee. Brewed to perfection, each cup is a testament to the artistry and dedication of the baristas. From rich, velvety lattes to bold, aromatic espressos, the menu boasts a variety of options to satisfy every palate. The beans are clearly of top-notch quality, resulting in a flavor profile that is robust yet smooth, leaving a lingering warmth with every sip.

Equally impressive is the service. The staff here exudes genuine warmth and friendliness, making you feel right at home from the moment you step through the door. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, you're greeted with a welcoming smile and a genuine interest in ensuring your experience is nothing short of exceptional. Their knowledge of the menu is extensive, and they are more than happy to offer recommendations based on your preferences.

This has certainly become my new favourite weekend breakfast and coffee meeting joint...

I’ve been living locally for 8 years now and am a regular at your cafe. I’ve always had lovely experiences with your friendly staff but today unfortunately one of them was really unpleasant to me.

I had brought my friend who was on holidays in London for breakfast. We were sitting down being served our food and I asked the server if I could have a hot water and lemon. She said you don’t really do that, which is incorrect as I’ve been ordering hot water with lemon for years, frequently from the table without consequence. She then came back with cold water and lemon and placed it quite aggressively on the table. I apologised for the inconvenience and explained again my order. She went and came back with a hot water lemon and slammed it down on the table. We thanked her and she said nothing back, turned around and I saw that she had rolled her eyes at us. The whole table was really shocked by this.

It was really disappointing. After so many pleasant encounters at your cafe, introducing it to so many friends and visitors, this seemed like the last time I could go here. Unfortunately servers like her can taint the overall experience of a place. I’ve let my friends know about this morning and they are really shocked too. The affect of her rudeness can be really far reaching beyond just my experience and I’m just so...

(+) it’s cool, there isn’t anywhere like it in the vicinity; the coffee is good; the cooked food is okay and cakes are good. (-) coffee is pricey; food is overpriced. I like this spot. Sure, there’s a hipsteresq air about the place, but it’s also a comfortable spot to relax with friends or get some pre-work work done. The staff are fine, I haven’t had any negative interactions to date and I’m not a particular chatty so it suits me. It’s pretty busy in the mornings and service can be slow, no big deal if you’re not in a rush. The garden out front is a good place to chill when the weather is decent.

I went there with 4 more friends. Two of them ordered a chai latte which was described as one of the best ones they've tried in London. The other two friends ordered a long black and an americano but they both received a long black. Indeed the barista said that both drinks were the same when they were not. I ordered an espresso which was what I expected for a roastery coffee place. I have to say that this is one of the most expensive cafes I've been to in London. The macchiato is my usual point of comparison, normally I pay £2.8-£3 for that but here they charge you £3.7!
