Amigos Burgers & Shakes-Harlesden — Restaurant in London

I recently visited the Amigos branch in Harlesden with the intention of trying their food for the first time. I noticed they had a 5-star hygiene rating displayed, which initially gave me some confidence. Unfortunately, what I experienced made me seriously question how that rating was achieved.

I waited patiently as the team worked through a few orders ahead of me, but during that time I observed several concerning hygiene issues. The staff member at the till was wearing clear vinyl gloves, but he was also handling food — without changing his gloves between taking payments and preparing orders. That’s a serious cross-contamination concern.

Worse still, the same staff member was less than welcoming. He didn’t greet or speak to customers, which made the entire experience feel cold and uninviting.

Another team member at the fryer sneezed lightly and wiped his nose with his arm. While there was no direct food contact, he didn’t wash his hands afterward and continued handling food — specifically the frozen chips — without wearing gloves. A third staff member was also seen removing rubbish and walking between the kitchen and front area, again without any clear hand hygiene.

Additionally, the team spoke to each other in their native language while preparing food. While I completely respect the comfort of speaking in a familiar language, in the context of already questionable hygiene and customer service, it came across as unprofessional and disconnected from the customer experience.

Ultimately, I left without placing an order. If this is the standard being upheld, I’m completely put off from trying any Amigos location...

Mistakes happen in the workplace which is always understandable, however tonight was taking it to another level.

The initial order took (1) 35+ minutes, how a burger takes that long to cook is beyond me but I can live with that provided the food is good! Cheesy fries were more of a nacho/cheese sauce type and not to my tastes and sour, (2) received the wrong milkshake but accepted it anyway because it wasn't a big deal. (3) The burger I ordered was bright pink in the middle, I was okay with the light pinkness that you usually get with burgers but this was definitely raw and undercooked. After showing the teammembers they thankfully remade a new burger for me which took about 10 minutes. (4) Having already lost my appetite I received the new burger which was the wrong one! (5) To add, a friend's Ferrero Roche milkshake contained Mars pieces which is a bit baffling.

In the end I asked for a refund which they provided for only the burger which is fine since at this point I just wanted to leave the premises. Ended up being at the location for almost 50 minutes as a friend's order was 10 odd minutes longer than my initial one.

Despite the attempted corrective actions the staff took it was to no avail and honestly just frustrating hence why I opted for a refund and left to go elsewhere.

Definitely isn't fast food even when ordering just a milkshake as I'm usually waiting at least 20 minutes. Hopefully it's a lot better during...

Had the pleasure of dining at Amigos Burgers & Shakes and it was an experience worth raving about! Starting with the whole grilled chicken: it was a masterpiece. Each bite was a symphony of flavors. It was cooked to perfection, with a tender interior and a crisp exterior that hinted at a blend of herbs and spices. The smoky aroma complemented its succulent taste, making it impossible to resist.

Now, onto the burger - it wasn't just any burger. The patty was juicy, oozing with rich flavors, and had a certain depth that can only be achieved by meticulous cooking. The balance of fresh lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and the subtle kick from the sauce tied everything together, creating a harmonious blend in every bite.

The chips were the cherry on top. Not too thick and not too thin, they boasted a golden hue with a delightful crunch that reverberated with every bite. The fluffy interior contrasted beautifully with its crisp exterior, and they were seasoned in such a way that each chip was a treat in itself.
