We recently dined at Ananthapuram restaurant and the experience overall wasn't that great. We happened to see some insta reals and some other mentioning on this restaurant which were all positive and that made us travell from croydon to east ham only to try out this restaurant. To start with Location was really accessible 2 mins away from east ham tube station. The first awkward thing i noticed was they have had 2 big bins right in front of the restaurant and when we were about to walk in 2 guys were bringing rubbish from the kitchen to dispose in the bin. I dont know what was in that bag but it was dripping all the way through. It was disgusting to see. Another gentleman cane out with a mop and mopped the floor. We took our seat we were given our menu, when we tried to order the first thing the guy said we dont have a that okay we choose another dish angin he said they dont have have so we started asking what do you have and he recommended few dishes and we ordered them. We had Nadan chicken from which was decent good potion and nice flavour. Another starter we had was beef chilly, it was so salty didn't mention to the guy who served us. Moved on to main we actually wanted to have meals, but again they didnt have it so we ordered 2 rice 1 alleppey fish curry 1 kakka fry and Ananthapuram special squid roast. Everything was flop except rice. Alleppey fish curry didnt have any flavour didnt like it and didnt finish it. Kakka fry was comparatively better had to send back squid as it was the worst of all it had a such bad smell. Service wise again not that great, one guy was at the reception at all times but he was not at all considering the people dinning in there. Over all not a good experience they have lots of room for improvement. Hot...

Travelled here from North West London by Tube after seeing an Instagram reel recommending this place. 3 min walk from East Ham tube station, hence is easily reachable. The ambience was noisy, and the decor was shabby. We ordered parottas, nadan chicken fry, mutton olathiyathu and beef fry. There was a delay but that’s understandable as the place was busy. Parottas - dry, not at all fluffy, felt like frozen being re cooked. Beef and mutton - pathetic, stale meat Chicken fry - chicken pieces were reasonably fresh as the meat was white but it was impossible to enjoy as the pieces were broke down into tiny bits on the bone rather than good sized ones which a meat lover enjoys. The masala had not sunken into the meat either. This fry was at best - average. After some time, a drunk man emerges from his table and decides to change the music on tv, announcing to all that if there’s any objection we should speak now. Overall a very pathetic experience. The only thing I would appreciate would be the attitude of the waiters. They were well behaved. I spent 51£ for these few items which is not exactly cheap by any means. I’m not saying that’s expensive but this is not a price point where a shabby restaurant with poor food and a classless ambiance is justifiable. It’s a poor representation of what Kerala cuisine stands for and I would avoid this place...

Ananthapuram serves one of the more tastier and most authentic Kerala dishes I have had.. their oonu aka the traditional malayali afternoon meal is a delight, as are their porottas and most of their curries.. the only dishes I didn't feel were as tasty as the ones we get in Kerala were the Indo-Chinese dishes like chilli chicken and gopi manchurian.

Food is not very expensive.. I've uploaded the pic of a bill of a huge meal we had which will give a better idea of the prices. The staff are polite and the service is quite good.

One thing I wish they could improve would be their handwash and toilet area.. the handwash area is too small for even 2 people to stand together comfortably, and the single toilet is situated just off this area, which makes it very congested if both the facilities are being used together.. the toilet is also extremely small and not particularly the cleanest.. women may have some difficulty using it.

Overall, the food is authentic and most of the dishes excellent if you are in the mood for a spicy, tasty...
