I don’t live anywhere near here but was walking past today with a friend and we went in . We have both been to Romania on holiday a few times and love the food and the whole country. One slightly weird thing with Romanian restaurants in London is that they always seem genuinely surprised to get British customers, and here was no exception, but the staff were very friendly. I had a mixed grill because my favourite Romanian food is Mici, which are small beef croquettes/kebabs. Sometimes they are translated as ‘kofta’ which is a misleading translation - but anyway they are great. Also there were good Romanian sausages, chicken and pork steak, chips and all for ten pounds. My friend had samale which is stuffed cabbage leaves packed into a pan and stewed. Usually it’s served with chopped cabbage from the bottom of the pan. I had some amazing ones in Iasi and these were very good. It comes with a kind of polenta called mamaliga which I like. We both had papanasi for dessert, which are kind of like doughnuts with fruit compote and sour cream. They usually have little balls of dough on top, these didn’t but anyway they were excellent. A pint of lager and a coke and two coffees and the bill was forty pounds, which is very good value. The restaurant suggests that they are a buffet restaurant, but I don’t...
Read moreA romanian restaurant that certainly left us really dissapointed. Firstly , when you open the menu , you cannot miss the word " roumanian" . The correct spelling would be " romanian". Moving forward, the service was really " cold" , literally no interest in making the guest feel welcomed. We ordered 2 beef soup and a shanghai chicken. The soups came out cold which is super disappointing as I was really looking forward to having a hot soup on this cold weather. The chicken plate was super loaded with fries abd chicken . The taste was good , though. I wouldn't have been annoyed if the waitress would check the satisfaction and the soup could have been taken back to be done properly but as I said, there was zero interest in making us feel welcomed. Whilst I understand this is a local restaurant , the owner should know better how to attract business and train the staff . As a Canning town resident since 14 years, this was my 1st time I have eaten here and possibly the last time. Will look for a proper romanian experience elsewhere. PS: I am writing this review for you to improve therefore kindly do not take these comments...
Read moreTonight 31/08/24 had my worst food ever delivered from this restaurant which used to be a good one with delicious traditional food and not sure what happened as I used to order very often maybe they changed the chefs ! Even if they still Increasing the prices but reducing the portions we still Used to order. Beans soup was not fresh and even if they increase the prices you receive just a small amount of meat (before you used to receive 2-3 pieces) they forgot to put another sour cream (which that 1 delivered was sour smelling) and for main course I chose a plate of chicken livers with grilled vegetables omg those vegetables was 4peppers 2 small mushrooms and 2 slices of courgette ! Courgettes and peppers wasn’t grilled almost at all and those 2 mushrooms normally you receive it with cheese or butter inside melted (not this time when they just throw away some grated cheese ) .chicken livers not the best taste very dried no juicy ,no salt no taste of original recipe honestly and very hard to swallow ! Honestly disappointed we stoping ordering from...
