It pains me to put only 3 out of 5 stars on this because we (my partner and i) went here previously and it was absolutely amaizng and brilliant...however this was our second visit as a couple (it's actually my partners local tho) and I must stress..this place is amazing, whixh is 2hy I scored it 5 stars still. The big let down is we chose this place specifically because, besides how great the venue is, the service and atmosphere.. I'm a type 2 diabetic so I have to eat only low carb foods ideally. So the sausage bites, baked camnbert (however you spell it) and even the burgers (without bins) is all I can eat.. however they had none of these and intact the only thing left was vegan burgers, fish and chips ..whixh then after paying we were told isn't avaliable.. the waitress/bar girl was aweosme tho and offered to change it out to fish bites and refunded the difference in cash but it was reslly disappointing and took the edge off the relaxed dinner for 2 we had planned as I couldn't eat anything they had left. So basically I watched my partner have dinner then I went home. Bit of a let down... however...... ..I'm still marking thia place 5 out of 5 for overall because I know how good they are normally when it's not as busy (it was packed this eve we went) and the food quality is absolutely lovely.. so I will be taking her back there for a third go.. hopefully they have enough of everything available. Management please keep the sausage bites and cheese in stock? Also in their defence, it was the weekend of Bank Holiday so maybe they were trying to not order too much? I'm not sure.
Atmosphere there is AMAZING staff are all lovely.. every one.
We will come...
Read moreThe Woodman is up there amongst my favourite pubs in London. It offers the atmosphere of a countryside pub in the heart of London. That said, you don’t feel like you’re in the heart of London because the pub is located on such a quaint, unassuming street. This is not a place you will stumble upon, and as a result you must know about it to find it.
Despite its hard-to-find location, it is usually busy. It is a locals/regulars spot and often you see familiar faces, so you know it is good. The service is warm and welcoming. They even have pictures of their regulars on the walls (who sit in front of their pictures when they visit I might add).
The food is excellent. I’ve visited The Woodman several times and it never disappoints. I’ve introduced it to several of my friends too and have hosted a couple birthdays and large-ish gatherings. Everyone always compliments it and many return, even if it is out of the way.
I highly recommend this place. But don’t go with an agenda. Go there to relax, enjoy the delicious food, great wine and lovely atmosphere. I’m confident you won’t be...
Read moreI live very close so am a regular customer. The food is usually very good for a pub, the main thing being that it’s the most expensive pub food around, but one does get a large portion. Fine. Today we arrived and the pie and mash was delicious, better than one would expect from a pub. However, the burger and chips was completely dry. I mentioned it to two waiters, both told me rather quickly, almost as a knee jerk reaction that they’d just eaten it themselves and it was fine. No apology. The second waiter I found problematic as he engaged in arguing with me, saying that I should’ve asked for sauce for the burger, as people like it like that, and that they make the chips that dry because they have to cater for everyone; also saying that I should tell them in advance how long I would like the chips to be cooked for! I sent back the plate uneaten, and I received no apology and only argument. For someone who has been a regular customer for almost five years this is the last time. It was a frankly rude and inconsiderate experience....
