Our experience started off on a decent footing, we were told we could have a table in about an hour so went for a walk. Came back and a friendly waitress kindly seated us outside and got us a candle for the ambiance.
It was all downhill from there in regards to service. We were coerced into purchasing a bottle of wine from the male waiter's choice as he did not want to open two bottles to have a taste, even though both are sold by the glass.
Our bread came without the olive oil it was listed with on the menu, a turn up of the nose by the waiter when we asked for it.
We asked for some condiments such as chilli oil and aioli to dip our crusts in, as that's how we like it and again the same attitude, we ended up asking all three waiters on the evening before we got some.
For dessert the waiter who we had to call over more than once for the dessert menu told us that the cheesecake was vanilla but never took our order. The waitress eventually came over to take it and told us it was strawberry :/. When it arrived there was a hair in the cheesecake, by this point we were fed up and couldn't be bothered to complain.
Finally when we got the bill, we asked for the service charge to be taken off, I was given a blank stare and a pointing finger to the full amount. I asked if it was mandatory, he said he had to pay the waiters somehow. I said I don't feel comfortable paying service charge for mediocre service, I was told it's the restaurant policy and if I don't want to pay it that we were not welcome at the restaurant.
If this is the type of service you'd like in Chiswick please go as the pizza is decent, but you're better off doing a takeaway so you don't have to have much interaction...
Read moreMe and my husband just moved into the area and have been looking forward to eating here. We were given a nice table which we were delighted back but ignored and had to ask for service 3 times! We asked to have a taste of a wine before we committed to a bottle and we were refused to what seemed to be the owner. We asked if there were any condiments and he said no, we asked another waiter and they bought us chilli oil, aioli and tomato sauce. We asked if there was strawberry cheesecake he said no it’s vanilla, another waiter said yes it strawberry - the owner was just full of lies. We asked for the bill and he forgot about us and tbh it was not even busy. We asked to not pay the service charge he said we had to, we said no you have ignored us all evening to which he replied ok don’t come back again. Such a rude restaurant do not bother going. We are part of the youngsters moving into the area, they aren’t going to go far if they disrespect us. We thought this would be our local - not again. Go to Brew or Franco Manco better environment.
In response to your reply - please do not lie we were told “if you do not pay you are not welcome back”. Me and my husband travel the world and are part of a very highly respected blog, which you will be mentioned on and bad reviews will be given. Every Michelin star restaurant we visit gives us all condiments we ask for as we are the customer paying for your service and food and you guys do not supply this. Please work on your etiquette and manners of addressing your customers. Defensive comments do not gain customers, reflection and...
Read moreOn 2nd November afternoon I visited this place since it’s in my neighbourhood & food looked nice so wanted to try. For food I will give 3.5 stars but for service I will give -5 (since it didn’t gave that option so had to give 1 star) the french waiter was very rude. Firstly after we finished the food for good 15-20 mins he never came to clear it (all the guests were sitting outside in the canapé only) none inside. We kept looking in of he sees us & clear our table so we can order the desserts. I had to go in only to tell this to him & ordered my desserts inside at the counter only where he was busy chatting. He took another 10 mins to come N clear it. In between we felt cold n wanted to ask him to switch on the heaters but before me someone else asked & he rudely told them that only one works outside & he can’t complain saying one is better than nothing. I mean !!!!!!!!!! That customer felt his answer weird too. Anyways. After we finished desserts he was again no where to be seen. I again had to go in to ask for my bill. When he came with a card machine he asked me for the tip. On which I pressed NO & he again forced on saying that tip has not been included in the bill. I didn’t react to it. On this he threw my debit card on the table & just walked away with a angry look on his face. It’s very disappointing to see such behaviour. I myself work in a Michelin star restaurant & I know what it takes. I m never returning back & will tell 100 people more about this &...
