I had the pleasure of dining at Makato, a charming sushi restaurant located in the heart of the city, and I must say it was an exceptional culinary experience.

From the moment I stepped foot into Makato, I was greeted with warm and friendly staff who immediately made me feel welcomed. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with tasteful Japanese decorations that transported me to a traditional sushi bar in Tokyo.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the sushi. Makato's sushi is truly a work of art. Each piece was meticulously crafted and presented with elegance. The freshness of the fish was evident in every bite, with flavors that exploded in my mouth. Whether it was the classic favorites like tuna and salmon, or the more adventurous options like sea urchin and eel, every piece was a delightful surprise.

The menu at Makato offers a wide variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and nigiri, ensuring that there is something to please every palate. The chef's special rolls are a must-try, as they showcase unique combinations that awaken your taste buds. The use of high-quality ingredients shines through in every dish, and the attention to detail in both taste and presentation is remarkable.

Apart from the exceptional sushi, Makato also offers a selection of cooked dishes that are equally delightful. The miso soup was flavorful and comforting, and the tempura was light and crispy. The menu offers options for both sushi lovers and non-sushi eaters alike, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a fantastic meal.

I also must mention the outstanding service at Makato. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent recommendations based on my preferences. They ensured that each dish arrived promptly, and their attentive yet unobtrusive presence added to the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend Makato enough to any sushi lover. The combination of impeccable sushi, cozy atmosphere, and attentive service make it a must-visit destination. Whether you're new to sushi or a seasoned connoisseur, Makato will leave your palate satisfied and...

Sushi Bar Makoto presents itself as a high-end sushi destination, but my recent dining experience left much to be desired. While the freshness of the ingredients was evident, the overall flavor profile of the dishes was disappointingly bland, making the meal feel underwhelming and overpriced.

One of the main issues was that the sushi, though clearly handmade with care, lacked the vibrant flavors and intricate seasoning that one expects from a quality sushi bar. Each bite tasted as if it could have been made from ingredients purchased at Waitrose, but at a fraction of the cost. This lack of distinctive taste made it difficult to justify the premium prices on the menu.

Adding to the lackluster experience was the ambiance. The restaurant is quite dark, which might be intended to create an intimate setting but instead felt uninviting. The dim lighting made it hard to appreciate the presentation of the dishes, and the overall atmosphere was more somber than sophisticated.

While Sushi Bar Makoto excels in the freshness of its ingredients, it falls short in delivering a memorable culinary experience. For the price, one would expect a more flavorful and engaging meal, paired with a more welcoming ambiance. Unfortunately, it seems like this sushi bar relies too heavily on the quality of its ingredients without delivering the depth of flavor and atmosphere that truly defines exceptional...

The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was great but I have to give one star just because of how ridiculously expensive it is for how little you get. I've never left a restaurant before feeling like I'd genuinely been robbed. Me and my partner got the Karagee, Spider roll and the tempura prawn avocado roll. At first I was impressed because I saw 8 rolls, assuming that was all mine. Nope! 4 each, easily 60% rice, and the Karagee were like 5 little nuggets. They were served on the same plate as well, god forbid either of us had an allergy to crab or prawn! All of that for a grand £42!! We left hungry and downtrodden and honestly I couldn't taste a difference between this one and sushi place just down the road where you can get a big dragon roll for £12.

Maybe its just a sign of the times that to your now average Chiswicker, £15 for 4 pieces of sushi seems fair or even a bargain, but for the rest of us with modest budgets, you're better off elsewhere.

To seal the nail in the-what a ripoff-coffin, we calculated that for the price of a £3 million pound house in Chiswick, I could have ordered the spider roll 240,000 times. Figure out which one...

I never liked this place as his environment isn't inviting, however I agreed to visit this time because my husband loves their food. Due to new restrictions they have set a system im which customers order and pay before to eat so when they finish eating they can leave the place quickly (they only have 4 tables) I've chosen a dish out of 4 pictures they had on display, I have asked many questions in regards of the dish and requested the omelette to be made plain... It supposed to be rice, omelette and chicken katzu on top.... Sadly they gave me egg and chicken katzu mixed, egg runny on the inside and looks brown on the outside.... Overall was disgusting and could not eat, they have offered to give me something else but if I pay another £10 so I've decided not to eat anything. Not very impressed by their service, when I asked for something specific and they weren't able to do it, not even offered to properly cook my egg... Not recommended to anyone.

I have tried a number of Japanese restaurants in London and I think this one is by far the most outstanding one! We have ordered Chirashi bowl, Tuna Sashimi Bowl and Tempure Bowl. All of them in huge portion, freshly cooked with good ingredients! I must say the Tuna has been really out of the league - most of the tuna in UK are tasteless and this one has a strong umami, very impressed! Wasabi is also fresh, which is very rare in UK! Tempura is exceptionally good, and the sauce made me think about Japan! PS: we ordered fried tofu as well but that was just average PPS: a lot of people were ordering sushi / sashimi set The restaurant is compact and is always full, Japanese staffs and Japanese eaters as well. Japanese cuisine is London is always very expensive, but Makoto delivers the best value out of it. Highly recommend!
