I've been attending events and courses at Battersea Spanish since the early days, and I love how innovative and involving the concept is. I've been learning Spanish on and off since I was about 9, and it can be hard to find classes that aren't a bit patronising or a chore once you reach a reasonable level.
I began with the monthly book club, which is more than just a chat about a book - Eduoardo is an expert in Spanish-language literature and I often feel like the way we explore the books and themes is very similar to a university course - but better, because we drink wine and eat tapas.
The latest course I've taken is a conversation class about the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries, co-taught by a Mexican, Colombian, Galician and Andalusian, and includes cooking and painting - so it feels like a more natural way to keep up our Spanish.
The school is run by the wonderful Sara, who has achieved so much in such a short time. She's so passionate and genuinely cares about the experiences of the students at Battersea. I can't wait to see what the school has in store...
Read moreBattersea Spanish is a fantastic place to learn Salsa with a dedicated and professional teacher. From the moment you step into the class, you're captivated by the Latin music and the friendly environment. The lessons are led by an expert instructor (Carlos) whose enthusiasm is contagious and whose patience is inexhaustible. Attentive to each individual student, he provides a great combination of encouragement, correction, challenge and fun. New moves are demonstrated very precisely, ensuring that students develop a solid understanding of the steps and art of Latin dance. Complete beginners only a few weeks ago, it’s hard to believe how much we’ve all learnt in such a short space of time…and how much we’ve laughed! Battersea Spanish is more than just a dance and language school, there are also numerous social and cultural activities on offer. Consequently, there is a real sense of community and a very convivial atmosphere. I have met many lovely fellow students - it feels like you are part of an extended family. I look forward to joining more courses...
Read moreBattersea Spanish is fairly unique I think. A language school for adults that treats you like an adult! They put newcomers at ease by offering a welcome glass of Sangria and an ice-breaker activity. The school has a Tapas Bar and you're welcome to socialise before and after class. You can even take your copa de vino (o cerveza) into class with you.
Classes are available at all levels from absolute beginner through to Advanced.
The classrooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean with good, modern interactive screens for the teachers. I have only had one teacher, Camila, who is excellent - lively and enthusiastic and always motivational. Given the high standards of the school I would imaging the other teachers reach similar levels as Camila.
The school offers more than just tuition. It has regular social events, e.g. conversation evenings, film nights and pub quizzes (our team was last!) which helps to bond classes.
I have already recommended Battersea Spanish to a friend and he's signed up for an autumn course. Absolutely excellent and highly...
